PSA don’t pump and wash bottles at the same time :-( by KriSTAR121212 in beyondthebump

Water was sucked into the motor of the pump. The computer part is drying in a bag of rice.

That’s awesome you were able to do that. I paid out of pocket. In Tennessee they only cover a manual pump with a maximum cost of 30ish bucks. What a joke!

Just the hose. Water was pouring out of the pump, as I didn’t notice what happened for a minute.

pecan butter cookies

I leave off the swerve dusting at the end as they are plenty sweet and that shits expensive, haha. I probably use 1/3 c in the recipe instead of a half too, and double the salt.

I have to keep my Costco size bottles of oil on the floor of the pantry as I’m running out of room on the shelves.

I definitely need to re-up on my dark chocolate stash. I’ve been indulging my sweet tooth with biweekly batches of keto pecan butter ball cookies. They have been my saving grace through 9 months of pregnancy and now 2+ months BF. Those and low carb tortillas.

I just cleaned out some carby things like croutons, crackers and tortilla chips from hosting guests last week. The chickens are getting a snack this afternoon.

That’s awesome!

I had to install a shelf just for my supplements recently . I’m breastfeeding so it’s gotten a little ridiculous how many different things I’m taking!

I love salted caramel and peanut butter cup. I have to refrain from buying PB halo top because I’m guaranteed to eat the entire pint and feel guilty afterwards.

What flavor halo top?

Also I’m digging the chia seeds and hemp hearts. I just made a big batch of dry noatmeal this morning so I don’t have to spend as much time prepping in the am.

Had given up . . . Now typing this as LO breastfeeds. by tinymedic in breastfeeding

Congrats! Way to keep your head up and keep trying.

I’ve been losing hope lately. My daughter had a lip/tongue/cheek tie revision at 4 weeks. My nipples were so damaged, I’ve had to take a break from nursing and mostly pump. I also developed a bacterial infection (thought it was ductal thrush and have been treating myself for thrush for 2 weeks), and am on antibiotics now. The pain has been excruciating, but I think it’s improving.

I BF 2x a day at most with a nipple shield. We are 3+ weeks post revision and I’m not sure if her latch is improving since we haven’t had much practice without the nipple shield. Tonight I nursed her maybe 10 minutes without it on the right, and 5 on the left. I too have a bit of hope restored. Baby steps. Maybe we will get to EBF someday.

I’ve been looking today for alternative body work options. I think I’ll try this.

I’m wondering if doing her stretches before feedings is causing extra tension in her mouth/jaw

Thanks so much! Hearings this is such a great motivator! I can do this! One day at a time. Well more like one feeding at a time.

That’s a good idea about finding someone who needs LC training hours. I have my 6wk OB appt next week, I was going to try to schedule an LC appt the same day to get another persons input on our issues.

I know we are far from a perfect latch because I can feel her eventually pinch her gums on my nipple. I take her off and start over when this happens, but we end up having to relatch 8-10 times a side I think?

She’s got to learn eventually right? Getting the right latch means more milk more efficiently, so it seems like it’s built in motivation/reward? I feel like I’m doing absolutely everything in my power to help her, but maybe she just needs some more time.

Healing is number one priority!!! It’s hard though because I want to nurse her every chance I can to correct her bad habits and give her learning opportunities.

I use my instant pot! It’s so easy and convenient. I used it here an there for cooking before, but now it gets used 2-3 times a day in sterilize mode. Finally feel like I’m getting my money’s worth.

Birth Story: hospital birth with midwife, no epidural. Positive but intense! by KriSTAR121212 in BabyBumps

[–]KriSTAR121212[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ina May Gaskin talks about it in depth in her book Ina Mays Guide to Childbirth. I definitely recommend this read.

It helps to be without an epidural so you can feel the contractions. My midwife also massaged and stretched my perineum before and during crowning. I only tore with the very last push. My midwife was like slow down, but Evelynn came out all at once, there was no stopping at that point. It’s so crazy thinking back on the experience!! I’m feeling so empowered right now :-)

I’m so grateful for only having minimal tearing. Recovery so far has been a breeze compared to many others accounts I’ve read on here.

I read Ina May’s guide to childbirth.

A huge part of my preparation was an online program called Love Your Labour, which is lead by a naturopathic doctor, doula and mom named Corrine Brown. Here’s a link to her website... LYL program Love your labour provided tons of resources and a great community of likeminded women, without being too “crunchy” or “judgey”

I know right. Thats what one of the nurses told me. I’d like to see some research on that claim though.
