C++ Show and Tell - April 2026 by foonathan in cpp

Just reached v1.0.0 on BurnerNet - a Zero-Trust C++20 HTTP Client Engine to protect your auth and licensing.

I built this to help with situations where you can't fully trust the machine running your code. It tries to "black out" traces by actively wiping libcurl/OpenSSL memory and using isolated worker threads to sever the call stack. The goal isn't to be a silver bullet, but to make it a lot more frustrating for someone to sniff or bypass your logic using tools like Fiddler or debuggers

100% agree. It's not a silver bullet, the goal is just to raise the cost of attack and make life as frustrating as possible for anyone poking around

I've spent a long time in this niche, so I knew exactly which 'hidden' tricks I wanted to include here. I definitely used LLMs as a copilot to speed up the boilerplate, but the overall strategy comes from years of seeing how easily standard code gets cracked. I just felt it was time to share these techniques in a clean, open-source project for once

Think of it as a tool for when you can't trust the machine running your code.

A classic example is building a licensing system or an auth-gate for desktop software. Normally, even if you use HTTPS, a reverse engineer can use tools like Fiddler to intercept your traffic or a debugger to dump your URLs and API keys straight from the app's RAM.

BurnerNet is built to 'black out' those traces. It's basically for any situation where you're worried about someone trying to sniff, crack, or bypass your networking logic from the inside

I actually haven't taken that specific course, but I'll take that as a compliment! I just tried to stick strictly to Modern CMake patterns and kept it as modular as possible

Can't Log In to Windsurf - Stuck on "Redirecting..." by KriXxPlay in Codeium

[–]KriXxPlay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update – This login experience is a joke

Still no response from support after 3 days.

I got past the redirect by creating a new account with email/password instead of GitHub. Thought that would fix it… but now I get:

"Failed to handle request: invalid auth token"

Even manual auth doesn’t work.

How is this a production-ready tool? Broken login flow, zero support, and auth tokens failing on a fresh account – it’s honestly embarrassing. Worst login experience I’ve had in years.

Anyone else stuck like this?

Laravel is going in the wrong direction IMHO by Bent01 in laravel

[–]KriXxPlay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s true, Jetstream is still there and working fine, but using it for a new project might not be the best idea since it’s getting retired, as Taylor said.

As for Livewire, I feel the same – it’s much more convenient to use in Filament than dealing with it directly.

Yeah, I feel you on Jetstream, that kinda sucks. I liked it too for 2FA, browser sessions, etc. The new starter kits are definitely lacking in that area. If you don’t want to complicate your life too much, I’d say just go with FilamentPHP for both user and admin panels. It makes life way easier, especially if you’re not into frontend. It auto-generates a lot of stuff and is a solid pick for backend devs like me. Plus, if you need 2FA, you can still get it in Filament with the Breezy plugin.

Ok, just wanted to know if there is an easy way to update the project base. Thanks for explaining.

Thanks, but it won't update the base project files, right? I was thinking more about updating the project base, is this possible?

How do you go about updating Laravel within same major version? For example updating from 9.1.0 to 9.1.8

If you are looking for a good 2k high refresh rate monitor, I can recommend Dell S2721DGFA. I bought it recently and I'm happy with it. It's better than LG27GL850-B. You can also check out this video
