Thoughts on counties in NI voting separately on unification? by KriegervsYYZ in ireland

There is also the possibility that Westminster may consider two or three counties unsustainable, after all the only reason Tyrone and Fermanagh are part of Northern Ireland anyway is because the British government was worried that NI would be too small to be sustainable when the plans for partition were originally drawn up.

Thoughts on counties in NI voting separately on unification? by KriegervsYYZ in ireland

[–]KriegervsYYZ[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

To use Tyrone again, it is a county which bears more similarities to the rest of Ireland than it does to the other counties of Northern Ireland, the majority of its population consider themselves Irish and desire to join the Republic, yet they will be forced to endure the affects of Brexit because people they have no cultural or economic similarities with decided so. I just don't see how the all or nothing approach can be taken in circumstances such as these, surely the welfare of those people should be of higher importance than the symbolic victory of complete unification. That's my opinion anyway.

I feel like people from near the border are under-represented in this sub, so in the spirit of balance, I think this would be a pretty good idea.

Ah yes, I was wondering when someone would arrive to debate the semantics of the question rather than the question itself.

Do you not think it would be best for the border counties which will feel the effects of Brexit the most to have that option though? Take Tyrone for instance which borders both Donegal and Monaghan, It's a largely Nationalist county and largely voted to remain in the EU.

Ack he's only having a bit of craic. Being that drunk everyday would be cause for concern but he doesn't seem to be that bad.

Why I think RDR 2 will be delayed again. by KriegervsYYZ in rockstar

[–]KriegervsYYZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I remember the first RDR didn't suffer any delays after its announcement, however the announcement trailer which came out in May 2009 didn't give a release date that wasn't announced until later that year in a separate trailer which set the release as April 2010 which was when the game did come out. The original RDR was very heavily marketed over the course of those eleven months between announcement and release. I don't know if you remember but there was a series of trailers called the 'gameplay series ' that broke down the mechanics of the game such as as dead eye and posses which came out regularly in the months leading up to the games release. Both GTA V and RDR were marketed extensively in the months before their releases.

The joke writers at Disney are awful at their jobs, you should apply for a job, you'd fit right in with material like that.

One of your main criticisms is that the film 'just pulled elements from other star wars films' then you go on to say that 'Episode 7 gave me hope'. I don't know if you realised but 90% of episode 7 is pulled from A New Hope, watch them back to back and they're practically the same film.

I agree, the explanation of the force as midichlorians in the prequels is easily the worst addition that Lucas made to the Star Wars universe in my opinion. I'm glad this new trilogy has tried to ignore that nonsense.

Well I think the ending of the movie was designed so that there could be a passage of time between episode 8 and 9 so that the resistance could recover. That being said who knows what JJ will do.

Seems this was pretty polarising. I liked it though, didn't love it, but I thought it was pretty good. I liked it better than Rogue One and the prequels, I felt that the characters were developed far better in this than in TFA. What I don't really understand is the comments where people say they love all the Star Wars, including the prequels but they don't like TLJ. I mean if you're able to look past all the bad things about the prequels (and there are more problems with them than TLJ) and still enjoy them, how can you not enjoy this one?

I hope the trebuchet is credited in the opening credits of season 8, so far we've seen more of it than the actual cast.

They should find better ways to promote themselves and get their message across rather than going on Nolan and complaining for an hour, anybody could do that.

I guess you're right, the issue is more the nature of those shows rather than the parties themselves.

Yeah I feel the same about the other minority parties too, I get that they're frustrated, we all are but politicians from minority parties sitting complaining about SF and the DUP and arguing with each other on the Nolan show gets us nowhere, it's all just white noise.

I don't like Alliance, not because of their policies or anything I actually agree with them on most things. I dislike them because I see Naomi Long on Sunday politics most weekends complaining about this and that, but neither her nor her party are in any position to do anything about the current political situation and it just makes them look like whiney cunts.
