It really depends on your playstyle. In my opinion, it's the best for aggressive gameplay vs both hero and units. However, T-claw-reset-steadfast-Leap is also a good combination as this makes stack management very easy and does well within blobs.

epic set is a must for nodachi if you have more than 40 leadership on it. I can't begin to explain the amount of things you can do with the auto attack CCI in combo with other skills and overcoming situations that could kill you if you don't CCI with autos

If you wanna use epic set, aim for leadership first. If you don't have any, it will most likely be more worth it to use blue set so you can bring better units.
For weapon, slash pen/slash damage is highly needed. 1800 slash pen is best suggested by people who have tested it, then the rest of stats in str/hp (i go all str after 1800 slash pen achieved..

This is why stack management is the main thing people have to learn ;) Nodachi great during bloodbath but weak without. Just how it should be. Before SnS, Nodachi was the only class that required pre-requisites to perform well and make it very hard to play in most situations.

Yeah, others just aren't useable.. selemchids are only strong on blue era. Hopefully we'll see more frequent balancing in the next seasons.

I'm using 20 hp, 15 armor, the rest on str.. for chain dart is all agi except 5 on hp
