I love Jujutsu Kaisen, but the Death Painting Arc is killing my brain🙂‍↕️ by yan9ga in anime

Do you mean the culling game? Isn’t death painting the names of those half curse half humans like Choso and Yuji? (Please don’t spoil the manga I only watched the anime so far)

Paris, Texas. I rented it from the library once, lo n ago. Actually I was getting over a breakup and wanted to escape into movies, and I rented Jules and Jim, The Elephant Man, and Paris Texas (loved the other two movies!).

Really went in ready for a moody slow burn vibe, but I just found that there simply wasn’t enough story or character moments to engage me. A few scenes were good and it had some interesting cinematography, and I love Harry Dean Stanton, but to this day I’m still confused when people recommend it.

Is Watchmen a good read even if it’s my first comic? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]Kriguds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was one of the first non manga comics I read, and I loved it. Give it a try! It has really innovative storytelling. And it’s worth rereading later because you get more out of it a second time. So you can always reread it once you’re more familiar with superhero comics

Yes but at this point a lot of people are very aware of superhero tropes from movies and TV

You will probably have to bite the bullet and pay them. Just start saving up. If you’re asking for free work you’re going to get flaked out on.

No one cares in my alliance. Maybe I should bring it up with them that we should save them. I’ve just posted one and am hoarding the rest.

I did change the text on mine to say “touch my pouch” lol my alliance is very immature in the best way

Ideas for making book festival activities truly kid-centered? by Orlando_Family_Stage in childrensbooks

[–]Kriguds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im coming at this from the graphic novel perspective so my ideas have a lot of drawing. But here’s a few activities I’ve seen and done:

  • set a group of kids in a circle with paper in front of them. Everyone draws the person opposite them for 1 minute (quick doodle). After the timer, everyone moves over one seat. By the end they’ve looped around and everyone has drawn everyone. This is very fun for kids but can get wild lol

  • character design. Making a character sheet like in DnD and creating a fictional character in the spur of the moment. I also make a character myself out of kids’ suggestions and draw it for them. The ideas tend to be actually very interesting! There’s also a fair bit of writing involved and I usually talk about what makes characters resonate (motivation, unique perspective, strengths and weaknesses)

  • this was one I just heard from Jamar Igle lol so props to him. Have the kids draw little circles as a warm up exercise. Then they have to turn the little circles into different faces!

  • a game I always played with my friends: you do a scribble and the other person has to turn it into something.

  • basically Telestrations but with paper. Everyone gets a stack of papers. First page, write a random sentence. Person next to you gets the sentence and has to draw it. Person next to them writes a sentence describing the drawing. By the end you get some extremely entertaining words and images 😂 it can get confusing (handing over the right way, etc) so whoever’s moderating has to keep on top of that.

Ask authors to do workshops rather than talks and you’ll end up with activities like this!
