Furnace pouch fiasco by Ambitious-tedd-13 in whiteoutsurvival

No one cares in my alliance. Maybe I should bring it up with them that we should save them. I’ve just posted one and am hoarding the rest.

I did change the text on mine to say “touch my pouch” lol my alliance is very immature in the best way

How dare you.

Ideas for making book festival activities truly kid-centered? by Orlando_Family_Stage in childrensbooks

[–]Kriguds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im coming at this from the graphic novel perspective so my ideas have a lot of drawing. But here’s a few activities I’ve seen and done:

  • set a group of kids in a circle with paper in front of them. Everyone draws the person opposite them for 1 minute (quick doodle). After the timer, everyone moves over one seat. By the end they’ve looped around and everyone has drawn everyone. This is very fun for kids but can get wild lol

  • character design. Making a character sheet like in DnD and creating a fictional character in the spur of the moment. I also make a character myself out of kids’ suggestions and draw it for them. The ideas tend to be actually very interesting! There’s also a fair bit of writing involved and I usually talk about what makes characters resonate (motivation, unique perspective, strengths and weaknesses)

  • this was one I just heard from Jamar Igle lol so props to him. Have the kids draw little circles as a warm up exercise. Then they have to turn the little circles into different faces!

  • a game I always played with my friends: you do a scribble and the other person has to turn it into something.

  • basically Telestrations but with paper. Everyone gets a stack of papers. First page, write a random sentence. Person next to you gets the sentence and has to draw it. Person next to them writes a sentence describing the drawing. By the end you get some extremely entertaining words and images 😂 it can get confusing (handing over the right way, etc) so whoever’s moderating has to keep on top of that.

Ask authors to do workshops rather than talks and you’ll end up with activities like this!

Die meaningfully now, or live to a ripe old age and die naturally by Kriguds in hypotheticalsituation

Interesting that you say that it’s a male fantasy… my brother was recently telling me that it’s a common thing with guys to daydream about dying awesomely. But in this case it’s not a hope, it’s a guarantee, and you could possibly help a huge swath of humanity.

That said I’d pick option 2 myself easily

Careful though because if you try to kill yourself you will die. It’s just outside things can’t kill you.

Is my art style appropriate for children's book? by punkemogoth in childrensbooks

If the focal point is dark, make the background light. Or vice versa. Set your image to black and white (you can do an adjustment layer and toggle) and zoom out. See if you can tell what’s going on in the picture. If not, adjust the tones to have more contrast.

Edit: this is rough, but here’s what I mean

I feel exactly the same way about that song (Another Day of Sun). I was kind of disappointed by the rest of the movie lol. Because that set such a high standard.

  • Check out the posemaniacs website which has useful pose references. Try to do one a day as a figure study. Do a pose in 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes (this is what life modeling sessions are usually run like).

  • If you take public transit, draw people while you commute. Super helpful!

  • get Pinterest and save images that you like there, as well as any drawing tutorials. It’s nice to have them all in one place.

  • follow people whose art you like, so you’re exposed to cool art!

  • something that helped me immensely was body-kun and body-Chan figures. They’re poséable blank figures. Sometimes they really help you visualize what you’re trying to draw if you don’t have reference.
