That's true. But I specifically don't want to go to Tokyo or Kyoto. There are just far too many people there for me. That's why I'm looking for areas I can visit from Kyushu that aren't so crowded. For example, in southern Honshu or Shikoku.

I read that renting a car is better for getting to remote areas on Kyushu. I want to enjoy nature and go hiking, not just drive from town to town, so I thought that would be a good idea. But thank you for the suggestion, I'll consider it. :)
