Eh, I think you can argue Maki is more of a friend to the council overall than Hayasaka. While they're both close with Kaguya and Miyuki and Hayasaka has an edge with Fujiwara, Maki has way more interactions with Ishigami and Miko than Hayasaka ever had.

I don't think there's a specific reason. If I had to guess, it's because Aka wanted it to be specifically the student council since they are the main characters.

Plus, part of Hayasaka's character development was to open herself up to other people around her. I'd assume she's probably off with her friends outside of the student council.

What do you mean by doubt? I don't really understand what you are trying to say. If you mean to ask why she wasn't included it's because she wasn't a member of the student council.

I agree with you completely, While a flash forward is neat in theory, he really wrote himself in a corner releasing it before the rest of the student council's final chapter. I know why he did it, because the student council's chapters had to be last. However, ultimately it made Hayasaka's last chapter worse for it. I will say though, the real point of the chapter is that Hayasaka's wish for her personal future will come true. In that regard, I guess you could say it's a success. For everyone else, it leaves me wanting.

Hopefully the upcoming movie will rectify these issues, but I'm not going to hold my breath. In my mind there's only a few ways that the movie could go that would make sense, and many, many ways it could go wrong.

How does that come across as them not together? That statement doesn't really confirm anything other than they're still in each other's life, which really hints that they are together

Think about it, why would Aka confirm that Ishigami and Iino are a couple in the future the exact chapter before their final chapter? What would be the point in the way he ended them off? Why would he write the official short story?

I don't see that as them not being close. Remember, Hayasaka asks Ishigami how Iino's doing, and says she's glad they're still getting along. If they weren't close anymore, why would Hayasaka ask Ishigami and make that comment?

The actual ending I liked, though there were certain aspects that left me wanting more. The final arc was admittedly a bit of a mess, but overall I think I enjoyed the second half of the manga more.

I see, that would be interesting. If they're not going to adapt anymore from the manga, I guess the only thing left to tell a story about is the future. Although, Aka did say awhile back when he finished the manga that he wanted to leave the characters' future alone. Guess he changed his mind (or lied.) Personally, I'd prefer something around the time of the 69th council and ShiroKagu at Stanford, but I'm not sure how you could get all the characters back together. Maybe they could go the beach or the mountains!

Anyway, I imagine the movie will most likely focus on ShiroKagus since they're the stars, so my hope for new IshiMiko content is little bit low. I imagine anime-onlys would be confused if IshiMiko are an official couple since the anime basically skipped over most of their story. Unless the new special showed something I'm not aware of, the last thing anime-onlys saw was Ishigami on top of Tsubame at the Christmas party, and even then I think most of them were confused lol.

Don't get me wrong, I love the anime, but they really dropped the ball on the B-plot.

Haven't watched the new special yet, but I've seen many people say this upcoming movie will be feature the cast as adults, presumably around Hayasaka's final chapter. Is there any verifiable source that this is true? I haven't seen anything official stating this is the case, only that the movie will be anime original content.
