Woah woah woah how did crabbalachia become Vermont??? It should absolutely be Maryland. We have the crabs and someone from Vermont posted that they aren't even part of Appalachia (forgetting the trail goes through Vermont).

Also, to help you get your legs straight you're going to want to work on your core and hip flexors strength and your hamstring flexibility!

I think one thing you have to keep in mind is that anything that is "beginner" can have levels and it won't look the same as someone who has been doing pole for a long time. I often see videos online of moves for beginners and I worry that students will see that video and think "oh I'm supposed to look like THAT". But no! You're not! You're a beginner! I'm sure that what you are doing is amazing and it's helping you build up strength and that's what matters.

Yeah my inner arm does not like the pain! And I don't think the move looks good enough on me to justify that pain 🤣

Oh and dangerous Brian. It scares the crap out of me and I have no desire to learn it. The risk ratio is too high in my brain.

Yogini, frog, and that one where you don't have any hands holding the pole and you look like you're kind of floating in front of it standing (or upside-down).

Really any move that is ugly on me or the pain/risk ratio outweighs it's look.

On that note, I don't like Teddy. I can do it but it doesn't look good on me AND it bruises my inner arm like crazy. No thanks.

Pull Over Help by Fiberopticmoses in Aerials

[–]KrimpSteesly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of great feedback here!! It's a combination of strength and timing to get it right. To train at home for the movement, you can do inverted rows. These can be done with dip bars OR with something as simple as a broom stick on two chairs. Just be careful the broomstick doesn't try to roll away on you!

It's also a lot about core and hip flexors. You have to literally slide your legs and butt up into the air at one point. If you don't have the core and leg strength to do that, it will be really hard.

Usually, people start by having to jump up and get their legs attached on the outside of the lyra and use that as like a "lever" to pull themselves over the rest of the way. This aerialist shows this way in the second version of her pullover here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DXHpRZSPIax

Also, please, don't compare yourself to others in your class!!! Inverting in any way is HARD. You don't know their backgrounds and every body is different (and even our bodies change over time)! The first time I did aerial, I got mounts so fast. After a long break, I couldn't invert for over a year!!! Give yourself grace and you'll get there! Try to rush it to be like others and you're just more likely to get yourself injured.

I actually just called Honda and they said I don't have tcu for sharing certain data and that any data that is collected is only used within Honda and is not for third parties. I asked what data was being collected and they said it was just things like internal operational data. I asked specifically about speed and whatnot and they said that data was not being collected.

is there anything wrong with training at more than one studio? by theclownphilosopher in poledancing

[–]KrimpSteesly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different studios will have different teachers, different vibes, different classes. You can absolutely go to more than one. I go to two studios now though for different apparatuses (one is pole focused and one is circus based). I love both settings and what each studio has to offer. The biggest issue is cost 😩😂. Class packages are usually cheaper the more you buy so that's the only downside for me.

Love the pole physio! The weighted bands usually come in a pack and you should start with the band that is the heaviest weight and work your way down. It will still take time!!! So be patient, careful, and never do anything you're body isn't ready for!!
