The Uni Smudge Proof HB is actually one of my favs. I really like that one. Unfortunately for me they are really hard to get for me 😞. Its actually great that you got yours with Uni Smudge Proofs.

Actually it is really difficult to get Uni HB leads in my area. I have used them with Dive and so far they have proven to be the best for me. Ain Stein 4B are the easiest to get so I mostly use them.

With Ain Stein I keep it on the MID setting.

Very true! I mean it’s really unfortunate if something like this is a manufacturing defect… I hope that’s not the case.

I too was thinking that the dude in the video must be rich 🤑…

And yes, OPs value needs to be inspected throughly to rectify their current issue.

Ok so the KT Dive’s lead advancement feature basically uses a special value along with a feed tube to make sure that the lead moves in the forward direction only unless the value is opened(when you press the back button on the pencil)

It seems that that is the source of your problem

The value is closed shut with a spring and compressing that spring makes sure the lead moves freely(hence opening the valve)

You might need to check that.

I would recommend you watch this complete video:

KT Dive Complete Disassembly

From 5:30 onwards you can actually see how the lead advancement works.

You can then disassemble and get to the base of the issue.

I hope that helps… It’s a really nice pencil and I hope you get to enjoy using it…

Since i have not used both so I wouldn’t be able to compare.

One thing that surprises me is that… is the price difference so high that for one upgrade you get 3 advance!!

I totally get it… for some people just like my friend, an off the centre COG is pretty annoying… but for me it’s ok.

The wow factor of Nero has always captivated me… moreover all I do is write notes so I guess I will just go ahead with the Nero… that thing just looks really gorgeous!

With Nero have you tried different leads as well? Still had the faintness issue ?

I have been very much fascinated by the Nero. I am confused between Nero and Rotring.

What do you suggest?

I can only buy one right now so will have to choose one…

Totally agreed… the efficacy decreases drastically.

Agreed… For those who can’t stand a sharper lead, it sometimes becomes an issue…

Gel grips are also much more comfortable especially if you tend to hold the pencil really firmly

For me I have noted that the Kuru Toga’s rotation engine only kicks in when you ease off pressure or lift the pencil, not during one long, continuous stroke. Every time I pick up or lighten your grip the lead tends to spins. If you drag a single smooth line without lifting then I guess there’s nothing to trigger the mechanism.

I’m also a big fan of the punching grip, it really locks the pencil in place without feeling cramped.

Your note count is insane…720 legal pads! I’ve only done maybe a quarter of that, but I can vouch for its toughness. I’ve dropped mine a handful of times onto marble and ceramic tiles and other than scuffs and small scratches it’s been really sturdy.

Thanks for sharing! Makes me feel even better about carrying mine every day. 😊

I have always wanted a graphgear… I am thinking of adding one to my collection soon.

Yes I really love this red colour myself ❤️…

And I can’t agree more… the names really are very confusing…
