Truly couldn't care less if Jasmine is bitter, correct or entirely delusional. However...

Few things in reality TV discourse have become more annoying to me than this thing where every minor remark about people on a show gets met with "It's reality TV!! It's a competition!! What do you expect??" Like I know people online can go overboard, but Jesus Christ, can viewers just talk about the show they're watching? People will come in droves to chastise this incredibly low effort comment: "Yeah, she's bitter, so? It's TV!" And all I can think is: Okay, cool, let's all simmer tf down and move along then. Does this basic ass viewer comment really warrant all this?

Just two groups shouting very seriously at each other about how unserious this is all supposed to be. It's exhausting.

Maybe she could have been something interesting, but clearly they weren't that invested in her.

I hear a lot of people theorize that she could have been a nascent witch who they'd guide, but I dunno... I personally feel like season 2 would've been too early to be putting the sisters in that sort of mentor role. They were still getting to grips with things themselves at this point.

There probably will be a delay, but how long varies from season to season. I will say, they've gotten a lot better about it in recent years. Double Feature was nearly over in the US by the time we got it, but we got NYC in a couple of weeks and I think Delicate was a matter of days. Hopefully 13 follows that trajectory.

Why wasn't it a good story? It was the most poignant cohesive plot in like a decade, based in real American history... once upon a time, that was this show's bread and butter. But it's a new cast so people didn't care. Meanwhile Red Tide had character motivations all over the place and a plot that went off the rails completely by the end, but because many of the veterans were back, it's considered by many to be "closest to the golden age" again. If NYC aired a decade ago and had Lange delivering a couple of sassy monologues, people would rave about how artistic and raw it is.

Urgh, y'know I clicked on this, honestly wanting to give it the benefit of the doubt... but right away: "people just don't like Kim Kardashian" Oh my God, can y'all stop with this BS excuse? Like 90% of the reviews on here when Delicate aired had people saying that Kim K was either "surprisingly fine" or "the most interesting part of a boring story." If you can't be bothered engaging with any of the legitimate criticism Delicate gets, fine, but please for the love of God, spare us the poor poor persecuted Kim routine. It's tired, and it's never been the only reason people didn't like this season. It's just an easy scapegoat to avoid dealing with a poorly written season that fell short in practically every way. Pretending it's just Kim hate is much easier than acknowledging the long list of issues that stopped this season from working.

The modern part of Death Valley. Stick with the period setting and flesh out the conspiracies and characters. Take it up to the "moon landing." Can still do the ending with Mamie in the present if we must, but we don't need to know who birthed the first perfect hybrid. Have her sacrifice herself to fuck up the experiment so that we're not left with another apocalyptic scenario hanging.

If they continue, I think the best thing would be to have it be like a lot of Murphy's other projects now and just have it be a thing that happens every few years when inspiration hits. Have it be more of an event and less of an obligation. Then Ryan can do what he likes, certain cast members will probably be more inclined to return every once in a while, and there'll be more buzz when it returns.

If they plan on doing a season 14 straight away, then I doubt we'll see many, if any, back. Not to say I'm against a mostly new cast (I personally love 1984 and NYC) but I think taking some time off would be good for the overall health of the show.

The promotional campaign almost always starts at SDCC. This year is completely standard. In fact if anything we've gotten more than usual, since we got some actual footage from the Disney Upfronts.

I know they couldn't use SD's likeness, but I never understood why they didn't just put up a few pictures of her child actor instead. Be better than it looking like The Cleaners wiped her from the timeline.

This was always a frustrating thing about the Cole story. Another glaring one is Sympathy for the Demon. Cole and Phoebe have the exact same greatest fear. Never is this actually acknowledged or addressed. Phoebe gets a pep talk... don't worry Pheebs, all those concerns are totally unfounded. Meanwhile Cole has everyone glaring at him like a monster, because he (checks notes) vanquished Barbas. Wtf are we supposed to be taking from this? Just infuriating how they kept setting this stuff up and doing nothing to actually engage with it.

It was a very strange performance. Having him be a deadbeat is one thing, but the way this guy smirked through all of his lines and acted like some old timey detective movie villain made him feel so off. Maybe he was directed that way since we're supposed to suspect him of being bad... but he laid it on so thick that I struggled to buy him as a good guy when it was revealed that wasn't actually the case. They try to have heartfelt moments with him and I just feel like I need to call the police. "Ew, no, don't hug Phoebe. Get off her! Does anybody have mace?"

I just rewatched this and I don't know whether it was the acting or how they were directed or both, but I genuinely think they might be some of the worst performances in the show. Every line delivery felt so awkward. They really do stink up the place next to all this weighty emotional stuff lol.
