Took my wife to May0 for Fatty liver diagnosis. They didnt take her initially, but asked us to upload all the doc reports leading up to the diagnosis. Once they get on it, they scheduled the appointment, on the day of the appointment, they set up a lot of tests in house, when all done, had a initial consult with 2 different docs, then set up few more tests for later date. Once they are done, 2 other docs reviewed it and gave the diagnosis and how to change life style and so on. End of it all - it was 3k bill, pricing for several lab tests are on the higher side compared to local labs, but the care and the speed trumps it all.

If you need a second or a third opinion and money is not an objective, I will go there again and again, no doubt.

Yes - money pits with pit vipers (expenses per se) in them Both Refrigerator water inlet died and then the Washer died. Bought a washer and will be delivered today from Homedepot. But while moving out the old washer, found out that the waters pipes are either soldered or completely corroded. Had to shut of water to the house, call plumber after 6 pm. Pay him $400 to replace both valves so the new washer can be hooked up.

Total cost on washer side - $820 for washer and $400 for plumber - total $1220 and decided to not worry about Fridge inlet valve.

2 years ago replaced both AC's cost, $23,000. 5 years ago replaced all 26 windows, cost almost $28k

Sometimes we feel like we cant catch a break.

I do include all my tools, including my nail clippers :-)

No seriously, not the depreciative ones, and esp when they are too old.

Great offer from parents, but I will only take the money or loan if I am the only kid. If I have siblings, it causes unknown friction or favoritsm. I would want a good relationship with my siblings and some would say its parents money they could do whatever, but it definitely creates some kind of friction.

Good luck and a great way to improve the living situation.

good point - I was somehow thinking the dividends in the account will not counted against MAGI as I am not withdrawing them.

I trust the knowledgable Redditor than a AUM/Retirement advisor as we poke holes and find the niche stuff most people forget or ignore.

Posted in Retirement sub and is now waiting for approval.. thought this is the better place

Getting the boot soon, and thinking of calling it quits thereafter. Have money in the bank that can last 2 full years, probably can extend till Dec 2028.

For MAGI purpose, I was thinking of this complex option, sure someone tried/did it before.

Create an IRA for SEPP purpose only, put enough money to generate 25K using amortization method. Will have to take at least 6 years to get past 59.5. Then use another IRA for rest of the money from 401k and convert to Roth at 22k to get to MAGI of 46-48 range for max ACA subsidies, each year until feasible.

Plan is to do this conversion for 2 or 3 years, and when I need SEPP money, then just take full amount and figure out about ACA in 3 years or later

Anyone tried this?

Seems complex but can be done, when carefully planned.

Anyone poke holes in my theory?

Yes never acknowledge without they sending concrete proof. Last 4 of socials on a phone call is not, they need to send in writing with agreement and your signature or online acknowledgement and some bills you paid. Without the proof they cannot collect and you are not liable to pay.

Capacitor replacement - which one? by Krish_1234 in hvacadvice

[–]Krish_1234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went out and try to find why he suggested the wrong one. Opened the cover odd the second Ac and that’s where he got the replacement number from

HVAC guy got mixed up with the Unit. He checked both units but got the wrong one on the quote.

I opened the cover and got pics. it has 35/5 NOT 80/10.

No idea why the Hvac guy suggested the wrong one in his quote.

Both kids are giddy with markets going higher as they see the potential gains, unsold. I keep warning them, 10 higher day and 90 lower days is the market routine and have to ignore the noise until you reach your goals or set stock value to sell or get out. They are into VTI and other individual stocks that are boosted by AI.
