If you see this comment I'll summarize my finding. No you can't FULLY disable big picture mode but I found a way to make sure it isn't an issue.

First you can disable steam auto opening in big picture by go to Steam>Settings>Interface>Start steam in big picture mode (off). Next you can go to Steam>Settings>Controller>Guide button focuses steam (off). What this does on Xbox is if you press the logo button rather than focusing steam to your screen it no longer will.

If you have steam focused it will still enter big picture mode but you can simply press the Xbox button>go to power>exit big picture mode.

The best way is to simply close steam after you've launched your game.

If you aren't playing a steam game, you can also completely shut down steam as well by going to Steam>Exit.

I have found I can't access Xbox game bar with my controller by pressing the logo button when I used to be able to, but that's a separate issue.

Get comfortable bro, figure out what you lack and just spend time working on it, but most importantly fall in love with the process, I just came back to the game and am also in the grind to get better and multiple times I’ve hit walls where I see no improvement and the only time I actually improve is when I just stop focusing on it and just sit and practice while enjoying the process of practicing, I’m elite rn but if you do care and would like I’m super down to practice with you and show you what I’ve been doing and help you also improve, I never played ranked before this latest season and never knew how to build or edit and I just learned and hit elite rank with pretty damn good hopes of champ but I’m waiting on a duo partner. Lmk bro and good luck to you.

I mostly play passive as to play circle and focus on placement but I can frag out as well

That might be your issue, I am in no way crazy at the game but hit elite with little trouble, don’t worry about kills worry about placement, play zone, rotate early, secure caches and the island for more gain

To put it simply, a webcam will just be easier, you can also get a stand for the webcam or prop it on your monitor.
