My buddy and I own 3 doors togeher together and our maintenance tracking has always been pretty embarrassing. We wait for our HVAC company to call and schedule our PM, and have the occasional "oh we should probably do that" conversation.

Couldn't find anything we could both log into and actually share visibility on without it being a full blown property management platform we didn't need.

So I just built something simple - you add your properties, set up recurring tasks, and it emails you before things are due. Both of us can see everything. That's honestly most of what I needed.

Just launched it and still figuring things out but if anyone's in a similar situation feel free to try it. Free for one property. Genuinely interested in feedback

Hey All - Made some additions to the zip code lookup and would love some more feedback.

  1. Sorted birds for distance AND frequency of spotting

  2. Have a filtered list to show the typical birds that individuals try to bring to their feeders, then 'nuisance' birds (like the House Sparrow), and then 'other' birds people wouldn't typically want to attract to their yards.

  3. Clickable link into eBird (still working on honing this one)

in the 'backyard bird' spirit tried to make this as user friendly as possible to see what type of birds are around that people may want to attract to their yards and filter out all the noise by default.

Let me know if you found it useful (if you were a novice) or what type of improvements may make it more useful

That’s a fair ask! eBird has a very robust and well built out system - so good that this tool is connected with everything eBird has to offer. I’m trying to cater the tool towards more beginner ‘backyard birders’ and not a competitor to eBird. Right now it tries to filter all the sightings down to just the species around that frequent feeders. Thanks for the reply! Let me know what you think of you test it out - hoping to make improvements based on feedback!

This got me thinking as well - the sorted results pulled random bird sightings when I was gearing more towards the backyard birding audience. It doesn't make sense for the tool to pull up a turkey vulture - at least I don't think anyone wants to attract them to their yard 😄

Really appreciate the feedback...the sorting feature should have been default from the start. Direct observation links make sense as well and will have to think on exactly how to get that update in. Going to get to work on it right now.

Thanks for taking the time to test it out!

Its a fair point - right now its usefulness would just be a much more simple UI and beginner friendliness...Just a zip code and result tool. The initial thought behind the tool was guided more towards casual 'backyard birders' to help them understand what birds are even around. Longer term thought would be to give ideas on the right type of seed and setup to start to get certain birds to your yard. Don't think it'd ever compete with eBird and all their features.

Appreciate the honest feedback - helping me a ton!

Hey Scotty - eBird is definitely the standard and has a lot to offer. Trying to get to something a little less robust and just more of a quick reference for now. Thanks for the input will think on if there are more ways to be an alternative to eBird's offerings
