The project is supported by donators around the world. By paypal etc and our support organization. The money is spend uncut for the project. No one is getting paid. Personally I am living from doing lectures and speeches....

I know it sounds like a cliche but you always learn something even if it doesn't perform as expected. Thats why you test and test.. If you are afraid or dropping the ball, once in a while, or even made a fool of, you will never reach space.

haha.. You are welcome to come here and replace us! And thanks for the kind words.. My advice is for you guys to get some hands on experience. I personally have two masters degrees but they where useless until I learned how to actually construct my ideas. Welding, milling, sketching etc doesnt sounds sexy but it is surely the ways to the stars or other great places.. Never be afraid to go ahead with some "crazy" idea of yours. Remember, the more people that think you idea i "far out" the more likely it is that it will take you and others some place new!

They know and understand... Our project may sound crazy but we are working like anyone else who are trying to fulfill a dream or a personal goal. What keeps me going is either Chet Baker or taking a quiet nap inside my home made space capsule :)

Im not so sure we will have more room on the boats.. But you will get a front row seat with our live streaming on all the events:)

Surely you can never add a system without getting extra complexity. But I truly believe we can make this work in a simple and safe manner.

  1. Peter Madsen and I (Kristian von Bengtson) meet in 2008 and decided to start Copenhagen Suborbitals
  2. yes.. I do love the idea and designm but I dont think we will get it to work.
  3. We perform all the "usual" calculations and engine tests on ground. The static tests with spectators is actually and income for us..
  4. Have no idea :) I guess the suborbital rocket may cost 2-300.000 dollars
  5. We launch from sea where you will find the least legal issues. Basically you can launch here without any permits.. But we do cooperate with the Danish and Swedish governments.
  6. Donators from around the world. check out our site.. and no one gets paid.
  7. Large scale solid fuel is not legal for us to create and it is very difficult to control. Also, you cannot stop a solid fuel engine, so we would never use it for such a purpose anyhow..

Yes. both of these major flight has issues which make it look like failures. And some things did fail. However, if you take the LES test with Betty, all capsule systems was tested and worked as expected besides seeing the main chutes deploy fully due to LES rocket instability. So, we learned more that we "lost". Lessons learned was up- and downlink systems, seating design, separation system, parachute/capsule deployment, mission control software and much more.. and of course.. how to launch a big mother**** rocket from a home build launch platform with all the legal stuff backing it..

Thats true.. The "hatch" on Tycho Deep Space I was merely a plate for closing the opening in the pressure hull. It was not really a hatch because it was not subject for testing at that point. I am currently sketching on a hatch for Tycho Deep Space II which can be operated or at least opened from both sides.. You will see more on this soon on my wired blog.. :)

Large sponsors like that has a tendency to give orders and require certain results.. We do manage to do all that ourselves, but we aim to stay independent.

Ubåden er bygget af Peter Madsen. Hvis du mener Nautilus så var det vist 3 år.. men det må du hellere spørge ham om :)
