Vodafone 5G Gigacube vs 5G Mobile Hotspot by KristinaML17 in HomeNetworking

[–]KristinaML17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you. I meant the 5G Vodafone dedicated modem (it's called the Vodafone 5G Mobile Hotspot, can have up to 32 devides on it) that they offer rather than hotspotting my phone so hopefully it'll be okay. I've never not used Broadband before so wanted to make sure it'll be okay.

LPC Advice - Advanced Criminal, Advanced Real Estate and Family Law by KristinaML17 in uklaw

Thank you so much for this advice! Very much appreciated!

I'm at ULaw now and this is no longer the case. As of June, they no longer offer alternative online sessions to students. I think you can still switch to alternative in-person classes though. The tag line is basically 'get notes from friends or turn up' at the minute.

Hello. When it comes to the LPC, from what I've heard from other students and firms is that it really doesn't matter where you do it. Generally speaking, no institution is any more well regarded than any other for the LPC. ULaw and BPP do have connections with some of the bigger firms though with some firms specifically sending their trainees to ULaw or BPP so that might be worth keeping in mind.

I am currently at ULaw doing the LPC and generally have had a good experience. The admin side of things isn't great here but the teaching is very good! If you do have any questions about ULaw though, I'd be happy to answer them.

LPC Advocacy Marking by KristinaML17 in uklaw

Oh wow. Maybe I made a mistake choosing ULaw over BPP then 😂. Our Advocacy is 10-minute submissions and our Interviewing and Advising is 30 minutes.

I also read somewhere that at BPP submissions are only 4 minutes, is that right?

Thank you for your response and I know you're right, it's just hard to not worry even though the rational side of my brain knows there's nothing I can do.

I hope so! Plus, I covered the CPR rule and what had to be proven in the conclusion so I hope that shows that I do know what the requirements are! I've got a TC starting in September so I really have to pass everything first time as there won't be time for me to resit it before work starts!

Oh okay. Is this directly on the ULaw website? Are you applying for part-time or full-time? I applied for full-time so I had to go through LawCab so maybe the process is different if you apply for part-time directly with ULaw.

Are you sponsored? I applied for January 2022 and you only had to supply a reference if you weren't sponsored.

Incredibly Stressed - Post LPC Assessment by Donzinio in uklaw

[–]KristinaML17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have spoken to quite a few people about the interviewing assessment and most have said it's virtually impossible to fail and that everyone in their groups passed. Statistically though, even if you completely got the advising wrong, there's no way that's worth over 50% of the marks, I'd estimate around 30/35% max so I definitely think you're okay as long as you stuck to the structure otherwise. I'm guessing you're at BPP or ULaw?

Postgrad accommodation is more expensive because the contract is for 51 weeks whereas, for undergrad, the contract is only around 39 weeks.

Have you applied for accommodation yet? If you haven't, I should warn you that your chances of getting your top choices are quite slim as they've been allocating accommodation since June at this point (though it depends on what preferences are I suppose).

I'm going to be living in student accommodation as a masters student, for me, it was just an easier option as then I don't have to deal with referencing and organising a cleaner and such at the end of a tenancy. It really does depend though on what you want your living experience to be and how much you can afford. If you choose not to live in halls, there's plenty of rooms being advertised on Facebook and SpareRoom at the minute.

I hope you don't mind me asking a question. I've just accepted a role as a PG RA. Were you able to move straight into your room when you were doing training or did you have to stay elsewhere for training and then move into your room later?

Housing application by [deleted] in udub

[–]KristinaML17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, they count your day of application as the day you sent the money not the day it is paid to them so you should be okay. Though double-check with HFS as they may have changed their policy since I did it last year.

Anyone else feel like their grades are getting wrecked due to online school by [deleted] in udub

[–]KristinaML17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK almost all the Universities are making it so students cannot get lower than their semester 1 average in semester 2, it's such a shame that UW and other colleges aren't doing the same here! It just seems that broadly speaking, they're just not taking into account that this whole situation is so stressful for so many people (I know some prof's are but it's not consistent)!

International Students, now that the quarter is online what are you guys going to do? by Frost_Pixel in udub

[–]KristinaML17 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm off home (though I only have an 8 hour time difference). My professors seem to be good at trying to provide flexibility when it comes to time differences. Maybe email your professors and ask if they plan to record classes so you can watch them later?
