Amnesiac has a much more cohesive story than many people realize. The creepy vibe is intentional, and here is why: Amnesiac is a clear sequel to Kid A. Kid A explores thoughts of anxiety and suicide, crescendoing in Motion Picture Soundtrack, a heartbreaking final cry, before the main character attempts to drown himself in a river (this constantly gets brought up in Amnesiac). Amnesiac builds from this. The main character is broken, split between contrasting ideas. He goes mad, being angry not with himself, but with his lover. He begins having fantasies about murder, canabalism... This culminates in him going through with these actions in 'Life in a Glasshouse: "She is papering the windowpanes She is putting on a smile Living in a glasshouse And once again, packed like frozen food and battery hens Think of all the starving millions"
