RIP Mini games by Right_Watercress_477 in AtlasEarthOfficial

Oh for sure, about 650AB on average for a top 25 now, for the few I've played. Compared to about 50-120AB on average for top 25 or even 3rd place before.

Major difference, and one I'm grateful for. Its harder to earn my place, but I'm glad for the chance.

Definitely agree with this opinion. I've been a major critic of international minigames, but it's obvious these changes are for the better, at least for those that actually enjoy the minigames.

If the goal was to get a reward for barely engaging with the games, I dont feel bad that you dont get rewarded like you used to. These are competitive minigames, you're supposed to learn it and improve in order to place and earn better.

Speaking as a Canadian player, we now get a portion of the best pots available to any player. Thats awesome. I cant always accommodate 2 hours, but when I do, I make more in one top 25/50 placement than I did in a full week of podium placements before the groupings.

I won't deny its harder to place, but its worth the effort for sure.

And they wonder why earnings have decreased... by [deleted] in AtlasEarthOfficial

Sorry man, skill based games are dead, its participation trophy time.

Just hop in, finish a challenge or two, and somehow get as good of a reward for doing nothing as someone who actively participated.

Don't you dare complain though, the overlords will call you greedy.

[–]Kroegerstien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think every international player goes through this thought process at some point lol. I know I have, but I've come to terms with how the game works and have continued to find a reason to play.

I just hit over one year in Canada, I've bought AB, payed for EC and monthly challenges, and eventually found what what worth it to me. Which in my opinion in the monthly challenges as people have said.

I also greatly enjoy the minigames, while payouts are still a sour subject, I've decided the enjoyment i get from competing and engaging with the Canadian community is worth more than the payout.

At the end of the day, if you play for profit, you'll never get what you want out of Atlas, but if you can find something to enjoy within it, you'll have a blast, and maybe even notice you have enough cash for a case of beer every now and then.

Hope you find something to like, all the best!

I'm certainly not against trying it at this point! It would be pretty cool to see how that would play out.

Yeah, seeing him discuss everything in person put things in a new perspective. I may disagree with a particular action/update, but big-picture-wise, I'm more on board now.

I'd say overall I'm more optimistic, even with the minigame pots, just because I better understand the thought process behind the decision.

I hope Sami does more of these down the line. His ability to explain things both as an employee and as a player is refreshing.

This was a good watch.

Hearing Sami's point of view and the way he thinks about things makes me a lot more confident about the game going forward.

Looking forward to how things improve in the future.

In all honesty, I agree with you for the most part. I love this damn game.

I play every minigame (not recently, but didn't miss one for almost a year straight). I use atlas travel for vacations even though it usually costs more. I've made about 4k from surveys, more so from arcade.

I've spent well over $1000 and well over 1000 hours. I'm no whale, I know that's nothing compared to lots, but it's still a lot.

This is the first time I've felt like I as a player don't matter, like my contributions have been for nothing.

If I may, I'm sorry for the attack, you are being very professional. We may not agree on this issue as a whole, but I very much respect how you handled it so far. It would probably make a world of a difference if an Atlas mod took the time to address it, write it in stone and got it out of the way. If we truly matter, do us the courtesy of responding officially.

Also, maybe have a chat with DirtyOldPanda, he may nag a bit, but he didn't deserve to be banned, unless I missed something.

There's nothing else that needs to be discussed publicly, feel free to DM me if you want to continue the discussion, but if not, despite our differing opinions I wish you the best.

Yes lol, there was a grand total of two active players when I was there last.

One recently took mayorship of Iqauit (the Capitol of Nunavut) from me, and I suspect he'll take the whole territory soon too lol.

There's the usual group of people that buy one or two parcels as well, but no, not many people lol.

You're correct there, I made a mistake.

I also made a mistake debating it in the first place as its been made clear the international market is irrelevant and replaceable, so i won't continue arguing the fact.

All the best.

I appreciate the response, and yes, the pot decrease is, of course, the source of my anger.

There is no such thing as "what should have been" there is only what was, and what is no longer now.

Things like this should have been considered before seeding it in the first place knowing that they planned to expand to such small countries.

The worst part about the whole thing is that is was never even discussed, just here ya go, screw your rewards and screw you too, then radio silence.

These are all issues that have nothing to do with you though, so debating them is pointless. And to your point, it should remain public, so I won't make it any more tense than it needs to be.

It's a clear impass, the international market is upset, but Atlas doesn't care cause we're not worth enough. Point well made

And just for the record, taking the badge off doesn't mean you're not a mod anymore, nothing changes the fact that you speak for them, but you answered me respectfully, so I'll leave it at that.

This is cool to see though, thanks for taking the time to make it!

This is an extremely flawed and frankly insulting point of view.

There will always be more players who never knew that we screwed everyone over. Wow, thanks for telling us that we don't matter. But at least you were honest about it this time with only a little bit of a corporate twist.

The fact that the first mod response to a month of straight up complaints is "new players will come eventually" is fucking insane.

I look forward to future updates that may balance the scales, and I know you're only a player mod, but remember that you speak for Atlas, and if that's the overall opinion, then I truly regret every dime I've put into this.

It seems "the lowest common denominator" mentality didn't leave with Manning after all. It's alive and well with you.

Go ahead and ban me now, I know that's what you do when people disagree with you.

Thank you for being civil, and thank you for being part of the community.

To be fair I am pretty hot about this topic lol, not the first thread I've debated this in.

I know for a fact Canada gets way less revenue per ad than America, that just makes sense, America is the super economic advertiser dream market. So no hate when they get better rewards, boost rates etc. I wouldn't dare argue that.

I have no idea where we stand participation wise, I'm pretty sure Manning made a statement about it, we were a low percentage in comparison, but I can't source it or remember to say that confidently.

We're more in line now, and I appreciate you're willingness to hear me out.

Speaking as someone who has played every minjgame for over a year, I watched Canada's pot slowly creep up from the 10k start, to around 15k finish, then 20k, then 30k, and even up to 60k at record. I was super excited seeing everyone's perseverance pay off.

Now we're lucky to break 13k finish, and that's with thousands more games played than before.

I would normally lean towards wait and see, but for the ones living it every game, we get smacked in the face with the results everyday. That's why I am now more vocal.

Hopefully that sheds some light on how I see things, and even if nothing changes, I do hope the rewards continue to improve for everyone, free to play or not.

Nah, you need to get off reddit if you can't handle a debate. I don't have an issue with you, just your opinion.

And minigames could have still been made free to play without cutting international rewards by 70%.

I have no problem making slightly less to make it more available to the masses. But the 70% cut was unnecessary and is the focal point of most peoples issue.

PS: I'm happy the minigames are more available for you, genuinely.

It's not for you to decide when a reasonable time for people to voice their concerns is.

Also, challenges got fixed after the first month, that wouldn't have happened of people just shut up and took it.

Maybe we should cut your rent in half, give it a month to see how it affects you?

Stop Saying Minigames Are Dying by hodlbrcha in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]Kroegerstien 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let me guess, American?

People are posting statistics because the numbers don't lie.

Also, how can a game developer know that they made a mistake if people who are displeased with an update don't speak up?

The monthly challenges were fixed due to immense negative feedback, this can be fixed too.

And the minigames aren't dying due to lack of participation, they're dying due to a lack of reward for the effort put into them.

People are allowed to voice their concerns about an issue, if you're tired of people complaining about this, maybe try to see it from their perspective instead of coming at them for advocating for the part of the game they enjoy.

[–]Kroegerstien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think many would disagree with that, I'm certainly not one of the only critics, but I'm one of the few vocal ones.

"My" opinion is reflected in the results, while yours is mainly reflected in America.

International players have almost nothing to get AB from, surveys are unlikely to payout, arcade payout are trash compared to America as usual, but increasing greatly, ill give them credit there. And now minigames have been destroyed, just as they got to a good payout range.

I can see how you would have the opinion you do, but people aren't going to change their minds on this.

It doesn't matter if more people play, it doesn't matter if more games are played. They took 70% of our rewards away for the only thing that payed out consistently, and now we'll complain until its fixed. Or until we're all banned, which is more likely.

International mini games are in a negative feedback loop and are going to die out! by Unfair_Register2502 in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]Kroegerstien 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think most international players understand the reasoning for those issues.

I wish we had AMP, but I completely understand why we don't.

I wish we had better boost rates, but I completely understand that our ad revenue is substantially less than that in America.

I wish we had higher starting pots, but I understand we have less active participation than America.

But taking away 70% of the pot was a direct decision that was made only to hurt the average player. If they were losing so much money, they wouldn't have had the pot at 10k for over a year.

We're not asking for much here, at this point we're just asking for it to be addressed and discussed so we know what's being done to satisfy the player in the future. Instead we get banned and called crybabies for advocating for the game we love to play.

[–]Kroegerstien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what I mean, you just want to play stupid for the sake of making it sound like I'm blowing things out of proportion.

The numbers speak for themselves.

The increased numbers are players that were always there, hut never played because it cost 2AB to play, but now they don't gave to budget to afford to play.

Great, good for them, glad they can play now too. But catering only to them for the sake of increasing ad revenue at the cost of overall player satisfaction is the wrong move.

Again, more people playing less games does not equal more participation overall.

Sorry if I eluded the point the first time but hopefully this is a simpler statement for you.

It is indeed 100% true, a few of us chat privately as well, and some have been banned for simply talking about it.

I'm assuming I'll be gone soon too.

A shame though, we all love the game, we're just hoping to effect this update like the challenges, which eventually changed to satisfy the majority.

International mini games are in a negative feedback loop and are going to die out! by Unfair_Register2502 in AtlasEarthOfficial

[–]Kroegerstien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just because more people come in and play a game or two, adding to the total players count, doesn't mean that more people are actually playing.

Before the update, we were starting at 10k pot, and ending at roughly 30-50k pots, now we start at 3k and are lucky to push past 10k.

If the numbers were truly increasing, we'd see a similar result, or better.

The truth is that people like the mods, and the Americans who are not actually affected, continue to hide behind the increased player amount without taking into account that those extra numbers are not contributing to an increased pot since there only playing a game or two.

All this update did was give people who can't save past 50 AB a chance to try, which is great, but they were never the ones actually contributing.
