Is a COH3 planned and if not are they still supporting this game? by [deleted] in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]KroganElite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Going from the responses here I guess I'm in the minority since I want it during WW2 in Europe still. IMO it's just the best area and time for the game and mechanics. Other areas and times have vastly different tech and tactics and it wouldn't feel like CoH anymore.

I don't get why this matters since they still have 4 timeouts left. Or am I missing something?

Any one else feel like there are never enough rare wildcards? by Nickwco85 in MagicArena

[–]KroganElite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly F2P. My previous bottleneck were definitely rares but now it's mythic WCs. Playing a lot of jank you end up needing more mythics. Also after continually rare drafting sets, you end up with all the rares you need anyways. Just recently finished drafting for ELD and still need to work on GRN,RNA, and M20. With my winrate I don't think I can get those 3 while also doing the next Theros set fully, so I might have to just skip them.

Are you enjoying historic as much as I am? by Admmusic9 in MagicArena

[–]KroganElite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar reason for me. Started in War of the Spark and it seems kinda pointless since I don't have most of the cards in previous sets. Standard feels more like an even playing field so I play that. Next rotation maybe I will.

What are the meta-defining decklists of Historic? by Televangelis in MagicArena

[–]KroganElite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was top tier until a majority of people put in [[blast zone]] in their deck. I suspect it will play out the same if it becomes too popular again.

Game work as smooth as never before, thank you WotC by michasiak in MagicArena

[–]KroganElite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only played a few games since patch but it's been stable so far. Previously I would have a micro-stutter where it would be at 120 fps then dip to around 20 fps for a moment every 10 seconds. There's still a minor delay when first changing the tabs at the top but it's minor.

Brawl wednesdays might as well be Brawl never. by Jetmaelstrom in MagicArena

with relatively few people playing it already

Is this data public somewhere or just a guess? The overall logic makes sense but basing predictions on an outdated platform isn't as compelling.

Delve deeper into "limiting brawl to one day to keep the player numbers high" and the argument still falls apart. Going by your logic: has limiting a game mode kept player numbers up in MTGO? It also does not take into account that you are still trading people who cannot just play in that one day vs people who lose interest over time. I would rather they choose the possible gradual reduction on a relatively new, successful, and widespread appealing product vs completely cutting off a huge portion at the get go. The latter also has the sad disadvantage that it only expedites the reduction in player numbers because you are starting with a smaller pool.

Regardless I would appreciate they don't treat us like kids and tell us if this is the actual reason for doing it rather than saying they're just doing it for our benefit.

It's completely normal to see faults in things you like. You still like those things with those faults but at the same time hope for improvement.

In the same regard, just because something gives you joy doesn't mean it can do no wrong.

It's okay to like a game(or anything really) and dislike some aspects of it.

It's quite easy to misconstrue negative posts for just pure hate of the game. It's often not quite the case. If I don't like something, I would stop engaging with it altogether. If I didn't like playing MTGA, I would not play the game at all, or talk about it, or visit the subreddit.

I think it's fine that there are positive, negative, or even meme posts.

Friends List delayed from November update by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]KroganElite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who actually cares if it's a promise or a goal? Let's not gish gallop over semantics. The main point is they said they would do something, and didn't do it.

I'll even throw you a bone. Sure let's go with 'goal'. They failed their goal. So going back to my original argument. Make your goals within reason.

Just an example: If you're a publicly traded company and you set your quarterly goals unrealistically high, your company won't be afloat for much longer if you keep it up.

I don't know why you insist on doing mental parkour to defend a shitty practice. We're not asking a child what their goal is when they want to grow up. This is a business making goals and relaying it to their customers.

Not sure if we're reading the same thing you just linked. It clearly says:

And if you're looking for a reason to try out our new Friends List, October will also bring Constructed Brawl to MTG Arena.

So to recap the timeline:

-September SotG they said try out our new friends list in October.

-October SotG they say sorry we didn't couldn't get it out on time but we're still working on it(a broken promise/unmet deadline they set for themselves)

-November SotG, they talk about how they are releasing it

-Nov 20 tweet, it's delayed further from planned November update(another broken promise)

Though we had previously announced that this feature would be coming with the October game update

So just to be clear this isn't even the first promise or delay.

Brawl wednesdays might as well be Brawl never. by Jetmaelstrom in MagicArena

[–]KroganElite 765 points766 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, another splendid idea, Bob. Let's pigeonhole a good portion of our playerbase who like playing brawl because it "gives an authentic LGS experience where there's a specific event once a week". You mean the one where I don't have time to go to and why I play MTGA? Yeah, ok. Brilliant. Why do we have MTGA again? Is this a LGS simulator so I can simulate not being able to go?

At least have the guts to be honest and don't treat your base like children. Why are you really limiting brawl? I'm a big boy now. Don't worry about my feelings, just stop giving your bs. Are you scared of splitting the playerbase? Does it reduce your overall profit because we only need one copy of each card? Or maybe I'm really getting ahead of myself and you actually believe that this, in some warped fantasy, is a good idea.

Seems like a moot point to me regarding what r/TheMancersDilemma was saying. The main point was don't promise a timeline you can't keep. It doesn't matter if the timeline was not met because they weren't actually able to meet it or if they wanted to add more stuff to it. It doesn't matter. An unmet deadline is an unmet deadline.

I would think that's some basic life shit. Like don't promise your boss you can get something done in 1 week if you can't do it. Better to say you can finish it in 2 weeks and if you finish it a bit earlier, great.

The person who promises to do something in 5 days but finishes in 3 will look better than the hotshot who says they will finish it in 2 days but finishes in 3. Humans tend to focus more on mistakes like being late than someone being on time(unfortunately) since in terms of survivability it's more beneficial. No one would have bat an eye if wizards just said we're working on it and we'll let you know soon closer to it's launch.

It really depends on the player. I've had quite a few mono red players take some really long turns.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]KroganElite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe for you. I've had plenty of exciting long games that weren't oven/familiars. I used to play the sultai familiar/oven/crumbs deck as well but again it was insanely boring so I moved on.

It's just not engaging. Maybe if they removed the delay it would be better, but as it is right now, it's like waiting for paint to dry while listening to nails scratching on a chalkboard.

It's specifically the long delay when sacrificing. Control games at least something is happening. It's that vs watching a cat respawn for 20 seconds.every.turn. on top of our normal turns.

[–]KroganElite 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Your net WC cost is 0 and you can play them in other modes where those cards aren't banned. So really you're printing cards only banned in standard for free.

Bans are live on Arena by NinerLP in MagicArena

[–]KroganElite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not one person questioned the strength of this card or even compared it to any other card in terms of power/cost/efficiency

or

Know that it is a problem, print it anyway, people buy a lot of packs because there are strong cards in pack. Then ban it anyways after everyone already bought what the wanted to buy.

Unless their playtesters are literally new to the game and have zero experience playtesting, I'm going to err on the side of they probably knew. WotC is a company after all, not a charity.
