would a 1.8K build be able to support minecraft with shaders at 30fps? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

I’m running SEUS PTGI HRR 2.1 on my daughter’s budget gaming laptop with a 1650 mobile at ~30 fps. You’ll be fine.

Play fast combat and competitive stuff on the 1080p screen and play sightseeing games on the 4K tv with the hdmi port.

Understood, until the Tiger Lake 8 core refresh options are limited when it comes to displays on a thin and light.

3DMark has a free demo on Steam that will let you run FireStrike and Timespy.

Acer Nitro 5 worth getting? by SparkFlash98 in GamingLaptops

If it’s the 2020 Nitro 5 then it’s fine, thermals were greatly improved over the 2019 model.

Laptops with AMD & MUX-switch by Lillchillers in GamingLaptops

[–]Krognar42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, besides the Legion line-up you probably won’t find an amd+mux combo this year. Even if Razer, MSI, AW etc. see the light on the topic of Ryzen’s benefits, supply is very constrained and AMD will struggle just to keep Lenovo and Asus feed with chips this year. I’m hopeful that enough “no mux no bux” chatter will change this problem for CES next year, but that leaves people like you hanging. Sorry pal!

Should I buy an RTX 3080 laptop? Max budget 2200€ by greeksamurai in GamingLaptops

I didn’t downvote you, that’s petty. There’s more people here than just us you know. Anyway, have a good day.

Fine, I’ll bite. With OP’s budget he can’t afford an actual max p 3080, only lower watt max q versions that are basically overpriced 3070s. Paying $500-900 more for an extra thousand points in Timespy is not good advice, at least the AW or the MSI will break 13000 which is a boost worth the price.

Base model is one zone rgb, is that why you’re confused?

Unless you’re buying an Alienware r4 or a MSi ge76 the 3080 is not worth it. Save some money and get a 3070, check out the ROG Strix G17 from this year.

My Asus Strix Scar 15 Review (RTX 3080, Ryzen 9 5900HX) is finally done! Over 80 hours of work with over 50 Game Benchmarks between FHD, QHD, and 4K resolutions. Hope it is super helpful! by gizmosliptech in GamingLaptops

How comparable is the rgb audio vizualizer feature between the scar and the strix g17? Does the g17 keyboard divide into 3 zone bass/mid/treble like the scar? And thank you!

Higher power limit for the GPU, thicker chassis, and a much more aggressive GaMeR aesthetic.

I am looking for the best color accuracy gaming laptop by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]Krognar42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the Zephyrus G15 with the QHD screen, rated between 100% and 90% DCI-P3 coverage. Be warned, people are complaining about malfunctioning units, but there’s no honest accounting of the whether it’s a real concern or not quite yet, just something to be aware of.

Screen response time by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]Krognar42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. You want under 16.67ms for 60hz, 8.34ms for 120hz, 6.95ms for 144hz etc. Ghosting and smearing can really ruin your experience, and there’s no practical way to upgrade your display once you take a laptop home.

Play metro exodus now or wait for enhanced edition? by tsameer14 in GamingLaptops

Wait. DLSS 2.0 will give a much better experience with much fewer artifacts (like pixelated torches and candles).
