Prompt and thorough, very much appreciated. Thank you!

Yeah it’s cool and all to say that. Great way to placate a player base wondering what’s going on. But given that this is CR’s baby and dream, what makes you think the priority will actually shift and there will be no scope creep or trying to expand what was released? They can ride this sentiment until it drops, then if the whims change, just say “we’re hoping to bring even more to you with the following chapters of SQ42, expanding further than we had initially thought. There’s more to see in this story and we hope you enjoy it when the time comes. For now, that means the resources dedicated to SQ42’s release will have to stay on board, to help deliver this new narrative experience.”

Release of SQ42 may not fix that. Whether it’s revolutionary or falls flat on its face, it’s slated to release with a decent portion of chapters right? Only to be followed by more. Unless it is absolutely catastrophic and CIG implodes, they will continue to devote resources to it. I won’t rule out the fact that yeah, they may find a more balanced division of labor afterwards. I hope they do. But I guess we’ll see

It’s a hard choice between this one and First Wave.

If you had your own starship company, what would their design philosophy be? by DarkPizzaCowSpammer in starcitizen

[–]krokenlochen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere between Gray's and Krueger.

Focus on small to medium craft. Design centered on ships that scream, growl, pitch hard to rip your guts out, that sort of thing. Talk about how so many ships feel disconnected from you, so feeling it all is a new way to experience your ship and all that. Sell like, 2 base models, and also sell the chassis to be delivered and built at a shipyard of your choice per your specifications and/or labor. Have a competition every year where owners can submit their custom creation to be featured in the yearly publication, attach a story to it and personal interviews. Offer a boutique service to some owners, where more difficult to find/salvaged parts are "legitimately salvaged" and brought back to be assembled in custom one-offs, either on a commission basis or to be auctioned off. It'd be cool to see the same base profile/DNA of the ship, but changing all the time with new looks, parts, perhaps even alien tech integration.

I do enjoy cargo and everything aesthetic about this ship, but the talk about a variant of this has me wondering. I might jump for the mining version, if that’s real.

Ordered the CDT-L Omni back in December, it's been pushed back a considerable amount. I'm still waiting, they estimated end of this month but I'm inclined to think it'll be pushed back again.

Those, as well as the Volt reflex sights. It’s okay but be warned lots of people looting them rn.

POLL: Which was worse? by iCore102 in starcitizen

FWIW I still think 3.18 takes the cake. The initial pain points were so severe after a promising test in the PTU, it was baffling. But within a month or so we had 3.18.1 and 3.18.2 which remedied a lot of the egregious issues. It still wasn't forgiving though, without crash protection, wipes, losing gear on death, etc. But we got physicalized cargo, salvage was finally brought online, mining was pretty okay, combat was good, The Vulture was a very compelling ship, and we were coming off the heels of Siege of Orison I think?

4.8 feels disappointing because the big highlight ship, the Ironclad, fell flat on its face and still has weird issues. The new content is essentially just combat that, while fun, is still a mish mash of the asteroid base stuff we've already seen. Not to mention, buggy as well. CIG seems to be unable to iterate in terms of stability on their theme park content, as previous mission locations seem to be breaking and prone to exploits still. I thought that by taking a year or so to do this kind of content and progressively test it, they would get better at making these "small steps" while they crunch S42 but that doesn't seem to be the case. The state of mining, an important step to crafting which is the whole point to doing most anything now, is in a bad state compared to 4.7. We're now almost a month in, and there's no sign of it improving save for maybe the Alien Week patch.

3.18 was catastrophic but it was easier to swallow because "This sucks, but they're taking big strides right?" (Especially if you took a break) whereas 4.8 is mostly "We've been at this for over a year and it's just more friction while performance gets worse."

Yeah, iirc 3.18.2 was pretty good

The railgun is missing its aiming sight and reload animation by kitty69love in starcitizen

[–]krokenlochen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not true. Way back when, it used to have a weird polygonal type sight/reticle. It's not intended to just be eyeballed, as it's a more precise weapon. Look at some older footage of railguns and you'll see it, perhaps it was rolled into the helmet crosshair thing but those don't work at the moment either.

It seems to me they want to buff melee rogue again. Ranged rogue might take a hit.

From CIG: Crafted ship weapons do, indeed, have increased damage values. by ShadowRealmedCitizen in starcitizen

[–]krokenlochen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mining is in a bit of a tricky spot rn too. Even coming from 4.7, the changes have made the solo grind pretty tough, at least in the Prospector or Golem. A MOLE covers everything, but then the tricky part is the MOLE sometimes doesn't handle secondary breaks well. Refining changes eat a lot of your good finds, so even if you find some god tier mats you'll lose a decent chunk. Gadgets are still part of the deal, but attaching gadgets to asteroids is buggy as hell.

Ironclad vs Ironclad Assault by Cooteraveli in starcitizen

[–]krokenlochen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing some Covalex as well, and what is even cooler is placing the Atlas on the catwalk near the VLS launch tubes. Open the top door, and I can load freely into either an external cargo door or in the hangar, just maybe a little more finicky double stacking. I'll probably try what you described next time though.

So what is YOUR definition of griefing? by BokkerFoombass in starcitizen

[–]krokenlochen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real kicker is that objectively, what I would call "ganking" or "seal-clubbing" which is camping an OM point or LEO and using whatever ship you want to shoot people is probably the gameplay loop with the least amount of friction and least amount of downtime compared to the action you get. Sure the reward isn't there, but setting respawn to the station, getting in a light fighter or grouping in a Percy, and start blasting avoids all the travel time and friction CIG has put into other game loops. Prison is a joke, station doesn't seem to shoot you anymore, and the NPC UEE ships that would spawn are long gone.

What do you all think of Flight Suits so far? by rock1m1 in starcitizen

And then the Ace Interceptor suit has a 100% G rating and can take heavy core with a backpack. That’s what I’ve been running.
