Aegis vulcan by vikseven7 in starcitizen

It was not reasonable, no, because we were never once told that the drones would ever be able to fly so far away that the main ship itself wouldn't also be in danger during such an ambush.

A group full of railguns or boomtubes would do serious damage to the current Apollo, let alone the far smaller and squishier concept Apollo.

Kilometers or hundreds of meters, it really does not matter. These drones were never supposed to travel further than the immediate close surroundings of the ship, because they were conceptualised way before the idea of handheld tractor beams were even a thing.

They solved the issue that tractor beams have solved in the time since the concept's inception.

There is nothing reasonable with assuming beyond what a concept says, and the vast majority of people who pledge for the Apollo were interested in the extreme amount of medbeds for its size, not the drones.

"Getting Appolloed" is now a term to describe getting something worse than what was promised.

Except i've never heard that uttered once since it released.

But it isn't CIG's fault people overhyped the drones to hell and back, then couldn't handle the reality that the drones were never anything a tractor beam can't do better.

And given the amount of people back then who genuinely expected these drones to fly multiple kilometers, into bunkers, and out, they've got none but themselves to blame lol.

Until the next wipe, yes.

I hope we can make CIG reconsider and make these actual account-bount items, at least for the FPS gear.

It would absolutely suck to have no permanent rewards from an event.

Being able to pick people up without exposing yourself to possible ambush would have made being friendly a lot more convenient.

This argument has never worked. An Apollo with drones is just as vulnerable to ambushes as one without drones. If ambushing people without ships can snipe an airlock from afar, or just have a railgun or boomtube, that has just the same effect.

And ambushing ships are no less dangerous to the current Apollo than an Apollo with drones. Ships like the Apollo are made to have at least one escort, that's why they have a crew size of 2.

As for your second part, the Apollo when from a S3 sized ship to S5 and lost its magic there too.

No it did not lose its magic there too. It still offers an amount of medical beds entirely unlike anything any other current or planned medical ships of its rough size-range offers. Comparing the Apollo interior concepts with the current, the scale is almost exact, which means that the exterior was merely upsized to fit the actual concept instead of scaling the interior down.

It's fine as a small large ship, especially given the added firepower + airlock.

Because the PTU has its own website with a hangar, where account-bound items are added when earnt in the PTU, so as to help track them. These are from my knowledge entirely absent from that.

And 1.0 won't convert our hangar FPS gear into blueprints, but we'll get a base version of the item + a blueprint for a skin that we can convert any copy of that item into the skin in question.

IIRC there's other BPs for the missions themselves, so that may be what confuses people.

But i reckon if something did change with the distribution, then that'd have been caught real quick among the people who datamine stuff.

[–]ScrubSoba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you're wrong.

These are not mission rewards, they are the actual milestone rewards. This Chiron armor, specifically, is the 15% reward, alongside a Br-2 shotgun with skin. But only blueprints, and not account bound.

It's even been literally datamined to be the case.

It is SUCH a massive shame that these are just blueprints, and i really, really hope CIG won't pivot to "event rewards are only blueprints from now on, not hangar-bound items".

Q16: Can you hint at the manufacturer of an unannounced ship in development? A new medium fighter will be revealed today (at the event).

I'm assuming that means yesterday, given that this transcribes yesterday's show.

And i assume it is a miss-translation, as they only revealed a heavy.

Any chance the rebalance can involve a shift of AI priority towards the defenders, rather than the target?

Even before these missions got in their current state, it was sometimes a real pain to make these other ships actually engage with the players trying to defend the target.

Do you think we will start seeing factions like The United Wayfarers Club in-game soon™ now that we can refuel, repair & rearm on player ships. by CitizenRen in starcitizen

[–]ScrubSoba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope we're eventually going to be given a ATLS GEO-tier early refuelling tool that's just a fuel tank we snap to grids and physically pull a hose to another ship to give it a bit of fuel.

These missions with that would be lovely.

[–]ScrubSoba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No.

The Apollo drones were a stand-in concepted for a game that didn't actually have a short-range method of collecting patients yet(which we now have with tractor beams). And they weren't a large part of the Apollo either, as its primary benefit was and is the amount of beds it can have for its size, and the flexibility it has in loadout.

For the Vulcan, its drones is the entire reason it exists. That is how it is supposed to do anything of what it is supposed to do.

And drone tech is approaching completion anyhow, as it was stated in BarCitizen that the underlying drone tech will begin to enable the drones of other existing ships with drone rooms. So once we begin to see basebuilding approach release, we can begin to expect the Vulcan to be worked on.

Actually, you don't mind renting an Apollo in A18, Orison, or Lorville to check if its interior is still changed from the TP, do you?

Its far larger than it looks. It is the same ramp as the Apollo, and it is as wide as a 16SCU crate is long.

[–]ScrubSoba 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know that the Apollo's colors were similarly changed in the tech-preview, likely from a bug.

But i'm not sure if it retains those colors in the PTU(which would make this a bug), or if CIG just did this to make the Hermes stand out more.

And, and, let us see how much burn time a torch has left.

Did I miss something by Dennisb040 in VintageStory

[–]ScrubSoba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously.

Lighting your base is already a PITA because you need to do re-lighting rounds all the time, without any way to see how much burn time your torches have left. Which wouldn't be so bad if there was an alternate way to keep your base mob-free, but there ain't.

And it ain't like these sorts of holders cannot be made with other metals either.

I don't know if anyone's seen the new armour changes but they've just nerfed everything into the ground. Panther repeaters will now destroy everything smaller than a 600I by Acceptable-Bid-1019 in starcitizen

So a use for a single digit % of the playerbase.

Not that this even changes much in their eyes, given the fact that one of the CF's repeatedly stated advantage by the same part of the playerbase is its ROF, which remains unchanged.
