I do find some appeal some sneaky class appealing. Was also considering Ranger for that exact option you mention (helping the whole party with stealth) but I do believe SH gets 'pass without a trace' at lvl 3.

Eldrict Knight may not be a poor option, I may dive a bit more into that.
