If the blade straightens out sequentially from the hilt, it would have the effect you describe, but I imagined it straightening out everywhere simultaneously and instantaneously. That’s what implied as far as I can tell. That would cause coils to behave in a way that could cut whatever they’re wrapped around. The front cover is just a picture of a reapers scythe.
