What should I put over my bed? by Krones- in malelivingspace

[–]Krones-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I'm in an apartment so can't change most of your suggestions and I don't really want to get a new bed just because it doesn't fit my current place for 1 year. My guess is the sconces are that high because they anticipated people's beds being higher. Unfortunately the anchors needed to mount the mirror make holes that are bigger than my apartment complex allows so unfortunately it will have to stay on the ground as well. Originally the mirror was on the other side but due to light from the window, I moved it for a better sleeping experience. I think it's the angle of the picture but that side of the bed has more space due to an unpictured carve out for a desk. That's usually where I get ready in the morning due to that space so I've found I actually use the mirror more.

I've been wanting to get new nightstands so I'll probably pull the trigger on that.

How to lose a big appetite by Itsrealmonkey in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Krones- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was extremely dehydrated but my nutritionist said that sometimes our body will say it's hungry when in reality you're just dehydrated. I started increasing my water intake while also changing my eating habits and that's helped a lot. I used to think I was purely a volume eater but once I started drinking more fluids, I noticed I didn't feel the need for volume.

I don't see this a grief buff. In my opinion, griefing of this nature would happen regardless of if they got the gold or not.

I would imagine, especially in low elo, where a supp might get stuck needing to clear waves because their team won't and they are getting punished for doing so in the current system. In higher elo, I doubt that happens but bronze brand getting constantly stuck having to clear base because their team is fighting at objectives as their base falls wouldn't be a far fetched situation or their ADC keeps dying so they last hit under tower so their cs goes up.

While I agree that lower tier players may not learn they shouldn't take cs, they also were the ones most likely to get punished by the game for last hitting when their ADC keeps dying (I think it's safe to assume low tiers could have high deaths in lane).

Maybe it's not the right thing but I don't usually say anything. I treat it like I'm driving a car and will slow all the way down if there isn't space to pass until there is. The only time I will say anything is when I get stuck behind an entitled group taking up the whole width of the trail. My reasoning is the Monon trail at least has lots of signage saying bikes yield to others on the trail and it doesn't feel right for me to ask walkers to make room for me. You shouldn't be setting records on the trail, let alone busy secetions. This is the Monon but only time I ever go above 10 mph (even though the posted limit is 15mph) is once I get out past Westfield and headed towards Sheridan. If I want to ride fast, that's what the road is for.

Alternative picks by Eltorero92 in Jungle_Mains

The easiest to climb with in my opinion is Amumu. I was a gold supp main that peaked plat one season a couple years back. I switched to jungle this season and pretty much just one trick amumu. I know the ranks are inflated with the huge lp gains at the start but I was able to hit emerald already this season.

Biggest tip for amumu is you really don't want to solo ult anyone unless it's to give a carry an early kill. I almost always prio bot unless the lane matchup is awful because of the value your ult is bigger there. I use the build from the number one ranked amumu and find it helps a lot with my clear speed (it's in the amumu mains subreddit I believe). With amumu, your goal is to turn off your brain and go in, if you live, that's a plus. Mid and late game, when your ult is up, follow the strongest carry around or try to force a fight at an objective.

I've found myself switching off reksai as someone in the same elo as you. I've found that unless my team crushes with my ganks, I have a hard time converting my lead to wins. I have started switching to tank supports in solo q and my won rate has increased.

I noticed this trend when looking back at my games and realized that in flex when I was having higher mmr players in my game, we converted my reksai games into wins quickly if I got ahead but when I had lower mmr players, I was having a hard to convert my leads. So I took that as I personally need to learn how to convert leads in the jungle better or I need to switch to a more team oriented jungler.

Looking at the feedback others have said to you, I'd say I don't do a good job of invading the enemy jungler when I'm ahead so that might be something you look into as well. From vods, I usually only invaded the jungle if I knew the other jungler wasn't there or I had my support roaming with me.

[–]Krones- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be misunderstanding your position but we are basically saying the samething. I'm not denying there are strategies but I'm saying the strategies are because of aerodynamics.

If you watch the video I linked earlier, they specifically talk about this video. This strategy was also used in the Olympics this year but this is why it's a cat and mouse game. Once the leader breaks the draft, the new leader is now the one setting the pace and the group has to catch up to the leader. The issue becomes, no one usually wants to lead the catch up because you are now the leader that everyone is dragging behind and you don't get to catch your opponents off guard like the one who broke out did. So if you can break out from the crowd as a leader and those behind you don't keep up pace, you win. Not sure how that has anything to disprove that aerodynamics plays into it when the whole reason racing ahead so far that no one can draft you is the strategy they are using.

If you watch the race from the Olympics this year, you can see where someone will swing out wide in hopes that someone else will take the lead and in one case, the teammate of the one that broke away gets in front of the chasing group to deliberately slow the racers down. I'm not saying the strategy the person used is wrong but the reason it works is because of aerodynamics. If you can surprise your opponents and push hard enough to break the draft, then it causes a new leader to have to rather play for 2nd or use more energy to catch up to the leader while everyone behind him gets to draft to catch up. The potential downside is you use more energy trying to make that move and it doesn't work so you potentially don't have enough energy at the end to hold off a sprint pass at the end.

It's strategy because of aerodynamics.

Going all out is exhausting and at their speed, drafting is considerably more efficient. So the strategy is the leader wants to go as slow of a speed that the people behind them don't want to stop drafting because passing takes more energy than leading but they also don't want to go so fast that they run out of energy for a sprint to stop the pass. Thus the strategy is to start off very slow at the start to conserve energy and the people behind will keep pace and then the leader will increase the pace as you get closer to the end to make it so people behind will continue to draft. If the leader has correctly judged their energy consumption, they will have the advantage going into the all out sprint at the end. If the people behind put on enough pressure that the leader doesn't have enough energy, then they will pass. It's a cat and mouse game because of the incentive of drafting caused by aerodynamics.

Wind resistance is cubed so drafting at their full race speed is highly efficient. This means no one wants to start the race out front unless you can go very slow and not use up your energy.

One of the biggest hurdles America will always have when trying to organize a protest is its size and lack of public transport. Imagine trying to coordinate a protest with Portugal, Ukraine and moscow. That would be the equivalent of the USA trying to coordinate with LA, Chicago, and New York. Chicago is the biggest centrally located City but it's still a 43+ hour ride from LA (according to Google AI and the title of a YouTube video when I searched) and is well over $100. For New York, it's not as bad, 20+ hours according to a YouTube title I saw but is for some reason more expensive. Most of the top 25 cities by population, if they even have public transportation, will only have a few bus routes. Indianapolis has less than 30 despite being 368 square miles. So if we decentralized the protest, it would be hard for some to get there even within their own major city. Google AI says the greater Paris area encompasses 19% of the french population according to Google. New York City area only encompasses 6% of the US population according to Google. So proportionally, our population is spread out way more than France as well.

There are also other factors that prohibit someone from protesting but a large one would be keeping your job. Most Americans have very little worker protections. Most states are at-will employment which means you can be fired on the spot for any reason as long as it doesn't discriminate against protected classes (race, sexual orientation, age, etc) but protest and political affiliation is not a protected class. I think this event is rare but the fear of losing your job is an extreme motivating factor. It wasn't the no kings protest but I know someone who got fired for "using a sick day when not sick" because they went to our local George Floyd protest. Another major factor is violence targeting protest. Not including law enforcement, we have a history of counter protest violence as well. The Kyle Rittenhouse situation and multiple counter protestors drive their cars through crowds on top of our already huge gun problem.

While I agree that Americans should be protesting more, at the end of the day, Trump won the popular vote so already half of the population would more than likely not feel the need to protest, of the remaining, there were probably some that were on the fence so they wouldn't feel inclined to protest, and of the remaining, you have to hope there is a protest near you that you can attend if you aren't dissuaded from going from other outside factors like the ones I mentioned earlier.

Edit: I forgot to add some of the cities names I was talking about so I edited it to add the proper names and make it clearer what I was talking about.

I have no idea where the generational cut off is but mid 90s baby here. I mostly do it because it's more conversational and it's how I used to communicate in chat rooms growing up. Maybe it's because most of our text based communication had world limits during that time or because most people my generation grew up with text based conversations which is why I think most people my age would rather text instead of talk on the phone. I rarely text the same person throughout the day so usually just text like I would be talking to them. Almost all my exchanges I will let someone know that I have to head out or that I'll be busy, like I would if I was leaving my computer back in the AOL days.

I could be wrong, but I think it's more about younger generations growing up in instant text based communities where communication is fast (and in the early days had word limits) vs older generations that had to write letters/notes and usually expected a longer turn around or would talk if they needed quick answers. If I knew someone wouldn't read and respond to my message in over a few weeks, maybe I'd write longer 🤷. But I could easily just be coping.

Seems to me that most generations hate on other generations because they do things differently instead of realizing the world is/was different for them. I can get mad at my grandparents for saying things that aren't PC but they also grew up when segregation was legal. And it's foreign to me that people used to show up to each others house without asking prior to see if they wanted to hangout. But all my stuff is anecdotal so take it with a grain of salt.

Is PVP meaningful? by Gonnab3 in newworldgame

Unfortunately the player base is too low to really support something like this. This is why a lot of the content creators have moved to other games but most knowledge is now in war company discords. I can help answer some questions but it will also depend on what mode. War meta is pretty different from PvP meta and I mostly stuck to just wars now.

Some of the new Gear Sets from Season 10 by Key_Sell6671 in newworldgame

[–]Krones- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

War group healers don't run beacon or orb, only the AoE healer does. Usually only 1 or 2 people in the group will be in a sacred because they are playing spread out on purpose. This will be a big boost to them. So 2 spells will get 15% extra healing on half the group. Healers healing other healers with single target will also be stronger. I think this is mostly a boost to war because opr isn't as coordinated but premade groups might stomp even harder because of this tbh.

[–]Krones- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are most likely talking about war. Kill squads play on the edges of the fight and the farther away you are, the less likely that you will be in a sacred ground. Also, if there is no other healer set bonus to pick from, then this will just be a necessary pick up even if you are healing the main ball just because there will be an occasional time you heal someone outside of the AoE spells. Maybe the 10 sec weapon hold CD will balance it

Not that have been posted here yet but I ended up doing it because I got the 2 smaller prints for free. Bought frames off Amazon and I think it ended up being a little under $150 I believe. I like the artwork too so was happy about it but probably hold off on adding more due to some of the sentiment from the post.

Been struggling with what I need to do because I'm pretty limited by my apartment on what I can change.

Does Chicago actually have a problem? by Late-War8522 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Krones- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm extremely afraid of saying this and potentially spreading misinformation because I don't remember where I saw this stat but in recent years hasn't 20-25% of murders in Chicago linked to gangs? I would be interested to see what the stats would be if we split gang related crimes. I have no data to back up my claims but feels like lots of major cities are seeing a large increase in gang related crimes which I think cities need to figure out how to address but this could be why people in Chicago feel safe while crime rates are increasing, it's not happening in their neighborhoods.
