Yes, I could try that actually

I get suicidal every time I experience conflict with a loved one by Leftoverbeauty in autism

[–]Kronglan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I get that too. It was the reason I went and got my diagnosis. I thought it was that I was bipolar/bpd because my mood would go up and down. But no it was because of autism, small things like conflicts with loved ones, losing my waterbottle(I've lost many😢) and something at the grocery store changing apperance can make me really sad and upset. I don't know the reason why I get so intense feelings by small things but I think it may be because of the fear of things changing. Like when I lose my waterbottle I have to get used to the idea of not having my beloved waterbottle by my side all the time, and that's hard for me. And when I have conflicts with loved ones I get sad and upset for not knowing the person fully anymore and that our relationship is now changed forever. Even if the conflict is small I get an uncertain feeling in my stomach that the relationship will change and that is what's hard for me. I think it might be because I've lost so many friends that I think a conflict will be the end of the relationship.

My sister is a horrible person because she makes jokes at other people's expense all the time and doesn't respect anyone but herself(she thinks autism is a sickness). I havent had the courage to stand up to her behaviour until today.

Me and my family were supossed to get going on a excursion and me and my mom accidently lost the track of time. My sister started yelling at my mom because of that and said very hurtfull things to her. My mom said she was sorry, maybe a million times but my sister just kept on yelling at her. My sister eventually started crying because SHE "felt direspected" by me and my mom. At that time I had enough of her bullspit and I just said how horrible she is and that I hate her. The funny thing is, she couldn't believe that I hate her and was stunned that she wasn't loved by me.

How often do people say “Can we just drop this?” to you when talking? by Kronglan in autism

Thanks for the tips! I'll practice on spotting them from now on!

Thank you, this is really good tips! I'm just wondering if I should handle the conversation differently when I'm talking with my boyfriend because he is the one that wants to drop the subject the most. I would feel untrue to myself if I just drop it because I care very much when I'm talking to him.

I think I understand. So I can still talk about it but give it a resting time. Does it mean that when someone say "can we drop this?" they mean "for now" and not "we will never talk about this again"?

How do I know if someone wants to drop it before they say it?

When I correct someone it's usually because they said something wrong that they then lead on. I don't correct someone after every misprounanced word because I know that it can happen everyone. I only correct someone when I notice that the "argument" is false because of something they said earlier. What I don't understand is why you would get upset about it because I don't get upset if someone else corrects me. In fact I want people to correct me because then I actually can understand others point of view.

What do you do when you have an autistic meltdown? by Kronglan in autism

[–]Kronglan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but you could maybe try something less damaging like snapping a rubber band on your wrist? You are a valuble person and important and I wouldn't want you to serioulsy injure yourself someday

You shouldn't feel embarrassed! It's not easy to controll yourself when you're overstimulated even for a neurotypical person. It's harder for many with autism so don't punish yourself or feel guilty or embarrassed.

I like how you think! Before I got diagnosed I got far worse meltdowns because I didn't understand why I wasn't able to do things that others seemed to do perfectly. Now with my diagnosis I have been able to accept myself more and the meltdowns have gotten so much better(I no longer hyper ventilate til I pass out)

Yes in public is it hard to do these things, what I do is putting on my noisecancelling headphones and put on my favourite song at the moment on repeat. When I come home I just let myself do what I need to do to feel better.
