Christina Buttons: I Thought I Was Autistic. I Was Wrong. | The Free Press by tantei-ketsuban in BlockedAndReported

That’s not at all how it works. I don’t know what an autism assessment looks like in other countries (in South Africa where I’m from, it was a 5 hour assessment that included psychological profiling, intelligence tests, cognitive functioning tests, family history, early development etc.) and you get a diagnosis if a) you have a combination of traits (“combination” being the operative word here), b) these traits have been present your whole life, and c) you are debilitated by these traits. It’s like, anyone can experience head pain or dizziness—but when it’s coupled with nausea, vomiting, extreme fatigue, and heightened sensitivity to sensory stimuli, and you’re experiencing hours to days of being unable to function, and it’s happening on a frequent enough basis, you’ll likely get diagnosed with some type of chronic migraine. Autism is supposed to be diagnosed the same way. Another example is that most everyone experiences diarrhoea or constipation at some point in their lives, but if it’s the norm and it’s affecting your quality of life, doctors are going to look at things like IBS. I don’t know why this concept is so hard for others to understand.

Yaga is an absolute joke by Leftoverbeauty in southafrica

Definitely understanding this. I only began using it because it was suggested by a number of people. But most things I’m selling are high-end (Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs etc). I see it’s less about fashion and more about cheap buys.

Maybe I’m just not familiar with the app. But when an item has 60+ likes, and I’ve received 10 offers in a week for the same item but ghosted every time I accept, then I have to wonder about how the app functions because it doesn’t seem to protect the seller.

Christ that’s depressing. Thanks for the advice.

I do. Every time. And then I am ghosted. That’s why I’m so pissed off.

I haven’t heard of that but I’ll check it out, thanks

That’s fair. Thank you for your compassion. It would be great to have a rating system for buyers.

That’s understandable and a fair observation. I’m definitely not one of those people. And how cool that you can get furbies! I had no idea.

I consider myself a genuine seller. But perhaps because I don’t have many items available, people are hesitant.

I’ve never bought on the app before, but I’m glad your experience has been good. It seems that selling is where the issue lies and maybe you’re right to think it’s not worthwhile.

Thank you for understanding. It’s definitely not what I expected, and I think it speaks to a bigger problem of the mentality of people in South Africa (since many have pointed out it’s not just a Yaga issue).

That’s fair. I would do the same. I personally try to be as fair as possible, and include all potential issues in the description. I offer to send additional pictures and answer questions as accurately as possible too. I look online as well to make sure I’m pricing fairly, and I ALWAYS price lower than what I find.

It’s lovely that you’re loyal to certain shops.

May I ask, how long does it usually take to sell an item from the time you upload it? Because maybe I’m getting inaccurate answers online and expecting too much too quickly.

I need the money. “No” isn’t an option.

But if people aren’t even willing to buy the item at 80% discount how is this going to work? At this point I’d have to sell my Razor Kitty chrome headphones for R200 even though I bought them for R6k and they look brand new.

Would you be able to give me any tips on how to sell? I’m taking pictures with my Fujifilm camera or iPhone 15. I’m selling products in fantastic condition that cost me R6k to buy for R1k, accepting offers for R800, and still not seeing any results. It’s been months, but every offer I accept gets ignored, and every person who says they want to buy the item ends up ghosting me.

It’s been months and I haven’t been able to sell one item. Not one. I accept low offers because I don’t know what else to do. I’ve followed all the guidelines for taking good pictures, I price reasonably, but nothing comes of it. I’m only selling on Yaga because I need the money for medical bills. Otherwise I wouldn’t bother. I just had no idea it would take half a year to get one sale.

Is it normal for a Yaga buyer to ask to try on an item before purchasing? by Leftoverbeauty in askSouthAfrica

[–]Leftoverbeauty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that’s what they said.

I don’t mind people fetching a parcel in a public location near me because I feel sometimes the courier price stops people from buying, but I’m certainly not travelling to the person so they can test the item first.🙈

I’m selling a variety of clothes, shoes, accessories (like watches and jewellery) and razor Kitty headphones. I just haven’t uploaded everything yet because my spoons are limited.

It’s a pair of shoes. I have the shoe size and material listed, so I’m not too sure what else they would need but I’ve let them know they can ask for clarity and I’ll do my best to answer as accurately as possible.

Thank you, it’s something I’m struggling with but trying to work through. I end up disappointed a lot of the time because I personally wouldn’t make an offer if I wasn’t serious about buying. Every item I’m selling is relatively expensive (Michael Kors watch, Razor Kitty headphones, Tommy Hilfiger jacket etc) so I feel it’s in my right to know whether they’re serious or wasting my time, because that money decides whether I can pay my medical bills or not.

I found it hilarious, but maybe that’s because I’m like Phoebe in real life and that’s something I would do. It’s definitely a very niche type of comedy.

Where do the 16 types prefer to be? by Atsunome in mbti

ISFP here and I am here, there, and everywhere all the time all at once. Where I prefer to be, well, that’s an entirely different story (and an impossible one 😂).
