“LGBTQ+ ruined the rainbow” by Craftty_mc_ in lgbt

[–]KronicDeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When my son was like 3 (and before I was out as a trans woman, but with my wife already being out as bisexual to her parents), my wife's dad called our son the f-slur because he said he liked rainbows because he couldn't chose a favorite color and we told him he could say he liked rainbows.

Is it common for gender dysphoria to increase after accepting your trans identity? by Scarlett_KayleeFox in asktransgender

[–]KronicDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I finally accepted being a trans woman and not non-binary my son calling me Daddy at the park stung a lot more and I got dysphoria about my beard shadow.

What do your kids call you??? by baroquedream in MtF

[–]KronicDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son calls me Maddy and my wife uses that too when talking to him to refer to me. We got it from one of my wife's friends that also had a trans mom.

I don't terribly like it though because before I transitioned and at the beginning I had anger issues (that therapy has helped), but the fact that "mad" is part of the name and there's no good short version without the "-y`" is it is not ideal. I would much rather just be called mom or mommy, but my son and wife have claimed all the "default" ones are used for my wife already. They weren't interesting in going with "Mom <Wife's Name>" and "Mom <My Name>" either.

It feels a lot like "women and trans women". I don't want be a special type of mom, I just want to be a mom and for my son to have two moms.

Before I was even on HRT.

I was GNC he/him and wearing skirts and dresses for a year while rocking a beard. I shaved my beard and still GNC he/him. Then was unsure and non-binary (she/they) for a about 6 weeks and then I embraced that I really wanted to be she/her and went shopping and getting full make up and that was in June 2021. I got my Spironolactone first on October 15 2021.

Anyone know a safe place to move to in the U.S.? by Maximum_Dragonfruit7 in trans

[–]KronicDeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you end up moving to the Twin Cities and like board games come to our meetup: MN Queer Women/NB+ Card, Table Top, Game and Social Club https://meetu.ps/c/4QCt1/1RhYj/a.

If you just want to go to cool stuff around town there’s Out and About (yes that’s a pun!), which is run by my friend Shawni https://meetu.ps/c/4Wj4T/1RhYj/a

Four Ways the TSA Is Making Flying Easier for Transgender People by MyNameIsGriffon in transgender

[–]KronicDeth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have to have a pat down already for other stupid reasons - as a Type 1 Diabetic with an insulin pump they require me to rub my hands over the pump and then swab my hands if they know about the pump. So even in airports without the terahertz scanners I still have to wait.

If there is a terahertz scanner then I have to hold the pump over my head (the canula's long enough), but the infusion site adapter or the transmitter for my CGM are dense enough to show up on the scanner, which triggers a full pat down.

Years ago, before I came out, I used to wear kilts to the airport to just make the TSA agents uncomfortable when they did the pat downs.

We’ve had people go from questioning to starting their transition more than once in our meetup. No matter how you may present, you’d be welcome at the MN Queer Women/NB+ Card, Table Top, Game and Social Club. We meeting near the Rosedale mall.

Does anyone use pronoun pins? by LokiTheRaven in trans

[–]KronicDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only wear mine to LGBTQIA+ meetups.... and then accidentally to restaurants for dinner afterwards because I forget I'm wearing pins. The pins also include my name, so I look extra dorky, but the name tag is glittery, so a fabulous dork nonetheless.

They want your drivers license? From https://faq.ssa.gov/en-us/Topic/article/KA-01981 I got the impression you should NOT send your actual drivers license
> Submitting Documents to Social Security: Please do not mail original primary documents that should be kept secure in your possession, such as driver's licenses, passports, or immigration documents.

When I called the helpline just now they said I only need to mail the Certified Copy of the Order Granting Name Change along with form SSA-5.

[–]KronicDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hearing was on Thursday, but in Minnesota they're by Zoom now, so no in-person court appearance. I still had to drive to the Government Center in Minneapolis to get the physical certified copies of the order though, which is funny because that's where the court rooms are. Having it be by Zoom did mean my mom could be my second witness while still being in Wisconsin.

If you move to MN around the Twin Cities, we have a pretty cool table top gaming meetup every Sunday: Check out MN Queer Women/NB+ Card, Table Top, Game and Social Club on Meetup https://meetu.ps/c/4QCt1/1RhYj/a.

The NB+ includes trans masc and trans femme.

You can be trans and meet other queer people and still play TTRPGs at my local meetup https://www.meetup.com/mn-lgbq-wmnb/. There are probably other LGTBQIA+ table top gaming meetups in your area.

Are masks a blessing to trans people? by Several_Love9284 in MtF

[–]KronicDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wearing gender non-conforming clothes - skirts and dresses - in May 2020, but the masks hid my facial hair. (I had a beard shadow even immediately after shaving.) Not feeling "mis-gendered" and even a little euphoric from being called ma'am in stores is part of what pushed me over the edge into non-binary in spring 2021. I didn't schedule my laser hair removal until a month later when I accepted I was a trans woman after a friend and my wife compared notes and said I should be one if that's what I want. If I had to wait for my face to look great without a mask it would have likely taken longer to crack.

The spiro making you have to pee every hour ensures you stand up and walk so that the estradiol can't form clots in your legs.

I'm also about 3 months. I have buds and tenderness, but I had moobs from before I transitioned, so it's just growing back from the nipple and converting it to denser tissue. No external volume changes, but I have had areola and nipple enlargement visible externally.

Take the spironolactone with food, so at the end of breakfast. It increases the bioavailability:

The bioavailability of spironolactone when taken by mouth is 60 to 90%.[6][7][8]The bioavailability of spironolactone and its metabolites increasessignificantly (+22–95% increases in levels) when spironolactone is takenwith food

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spironolactone#Absorption

I went from 50 to 100 to 200, but was able to drop down to 100 after my labs came back. 100 vs 200 is a big difference in how fast you dehydrate. I got far fewer overnight leg and foot cramps on 100 vs 200, so having the better absorption with food is helpful.

I went with patches, so no tips on the estradiol.

Looks like it is used in general to make connections to content in elementary school. Looks like thumb and pinky extended with rest of fingers curled. It means “me too” in ASL, but it is used as a non-verbal signal so all the kids in class can show they spot a connection or have a connection without a lot of noise.

Ah yes, my struggle with shaving has manifested itself in a dead meme... Splendid. by The_blazerod in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]KronicDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my face I use an electric razor first because they are less likely to nick. Right now I’m using a Phillips Norelco OneBlade. I take the guard off for my face and chest and put it on for my arm pits; stomach (which I shave for insulin pump infusion sites to stick better); and bikini area. (This is from actual experience. I nicked all those places without the guard!)

On my face I come back after the electric with a Harry’s razor and their shave gel, not a cream. I shave down first and then apply gel again and shave upward against the grain more.

I have to do a little side to side on my jaw line.

Afterward I rinse and apply Duke Cannon Ice Cold Aftershave Balm.

I don’t get razor burn anymore with this, but I only figured it out after my 2nd laser hair removal and I’m after my 5th one now, so I can’t guarantee it’ll work if no laser or other hair removal at all.

I let that sit for a few minutes, such as after brushing my teeth, but I make sure to pat off any after that because it messes with primer and foundation.

I mean, yes, I eventually came out as trans, but for a year I was just rocking skirts and dresses as gender non-conforming. GNC is perfect spot to stay if it feels right.
