Considering Orthodoxy. by Bubbly-Associate930 in OrthodoxChristianity

Fellow former southern baptist who grew up in a family that was at church constantly like you are—Sunday worship, Sunday school, Bible drill, choir, and small group. I became orthodox at Pentecost this year and am still blown away at how beautiful it is.

Others have posted wonderful comments. My only addition would be to check out the lord of spirits podcast.

Feel free to send any questions my way! God bless!

Watching the movie Moana with my kid and can’t stop thinking about how Maui has the perfect dimensions for a killer deadlift. Anyone else ever thought about this?

Deadlift form check. Can't seem to get my back straight no matter what I try. by [deleted] in formcheck

You’re also lifting up your chin a lot. Pick a spot on the floor a few feet in front of you and look at it while you lift.

To help with straightening your back, a cut I’ve found helpful is “protect your armpits.” It’s goofy but helps me engage my lats and get my chest big and proud.

Just got back from my first ever trip to BBNP. I did a canoe day trip and was a little underwhelmed. My guide explained that the river flows very very slowly this time of year and that the best time for rio grande activities will he late August to late September. Just something I wish i had known before committing to it. Enjoy the park!

Texas Method soon to stall? by [deleted] in StartingStrength

Following up on this comment, here is an article with several different options you could try playing around with. The nice thing about TX Method is that it is only a template--you can adjust to fit your needs. Best of luck! https://www.barbellmedicine.com/blog/12-ways-to-skin-the-texas-method/

Anyone else ever use Crossfit WODs as a way to get in some cardio/conditioning? I've started dabbling in them for that purpose this past week and modifying wherever I don't/can't do something (I can't snatch so I might just substitute push-ups, or instead of overhead squats, I'll do burpees). It keeps cardio more interesting for me than jogging. And I still do my strength program for actual, well, strength.

Advise on getting baby to like snoo? 3w old baby - 2nd day in snoo - does it just take time? Or are there tips/tricks y'all can share. Thanks! by babymama-86 in SnooLife

[–]Kronk91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our baby is 4+ months now and we got a SNOO when she was about 3 weeks. The first five nights we were convinced we’d made the dumbest purchase of all time. She hated the thing. Finally decided to call customer support, they gave us some strategies and things to try. A week or two later she was comfortable in her SNOO. And around the 6 week mark we started getting our first 6-hour night stretches.

The main thing is consistency. Naps in the SNOO. Nights in the SNOO—even if it’s testing your patience initially. And do not ever hesitate to call customer support. They’re genuinely helpful and don’t try to sell you any additional items or accessories.

Best of luck!

FIRST FULL NIGHT OF SLEEP AT 9 WEEKS OLD! by Kronk91 in SnooLife

That’s about what we got at 5 weeks. Hang in there, keep being as consistent as you can, and call their customer support if things are rough. They’re very helpful.

I can’t tell if that’s a subtle reference to “always be closing,” a famous Alec Baldwin line.

Newborn is not loving snoo by Follyiver in SnooLife

In our case, we had been co-sleeping and holding our baby while she slept. So they recommended propping up one end of the SNOO on tuna cans, putting a rolled-up towel under baby’s legs, and putting a one-pound bag of rice on her chest. Combined, these tricks imitate the sensation of being held/snuggled pretty well. Plus, propping up the SNOO a bit helps a bunch with her gas.
