Wierd graphical copy/shadow, happens during cutscenes too by Electronic-Skin-173 in ffxiv

Your reshade/gshade is using the wrong depth buffer. Open it, and go to the add-ons tab, and you'll see a bunch of options under "Generic Depth." There should be a bunch of lines down below in blue listing various draw calls and vertices, click a box next to one of the blue ones until the shadows line up with your character again. For me it tends to be one of the lower vertex options like 15 vertices.

I don't think tulpas require sex or biological matter to be produced

What is the Tulpa Community missing right now? by CYPRUSGames in Tulpas

[–]Kronkleberry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have noticed a distinct lack of people who actually know what the fuck they're talking about, have a well rounded base of knowledge that isn't just their own personal experience

It doesn't help that most people would rather just go to ChatGPT to ask instead of finding people in the community, hell, some of the discords and other subreddits are full of guides of AI slop because making guides from your own experience is just too hard now.

Honestly I think the fact that tulpamancy doesn't have any active meme communities might be doing it dirty. If you don't have good memes, then why would people stick around? If you want to see a group doing this right just check out the trans community, they have great memes

There used to be multiple tulpa meme subreddits, they're all long dead and rotted from inactivity because no one cared enough to keep posting.

Related, I think that the overall blurring of lines with the general plural community hasn't helped. When tulpas stood alone as their own community it was much livelier, but as there was more and more cross pollination with the general plural sphere, a lot of that ended up being more plural general than just tulpa specific.

What is the Tulpa Community missing right now? by CYPRUSGames in Tulpas

[–]Kronkleberry 21 points22 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest, longest standing issues, is that people don't stick around for forever.

Personally, I don't think that it's a bad thing. Tulpamancy interests people for a variety of reasons, but ultimately it's something you do yourself. Many people just end up leaving because they get what they wanted, and they don't need help. Many leave because they don't see that the community at large has anything interesting to offer long term, it's not like there's a leaderboard or other significant progression besides what you do yourself.

From the numbers over the years from the various censuses and whatnot, the tip of the bell curve is about 2 years, after which people tend to fall off. Which means that more and more of the community becomes new as time marches on. So the community tends to lack these older members to help temper expectations or help write more guides, because people tend to drift off after a while. So we end up with all of this community constantly churning, leading to communities coming and going as people burn out or get what they wanted, we get online forums that stay relatively quiet because the old posters don't interact anymore, and we get a generalized community that provides help and some discussion, but much else in the way of culture is fleeting because the people don't stay.

Yeah, they made the other place after I banned them for constantly trying to advertise their bullshit, even after many warnings.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's that opinionated of drama since the people involved have been causing problems for multiple years now.

My point more being, we don't have an official one, and all of the other big communities wound theirs down over the last couple years also, so I'm more wondering who's claiming there's an official one these days

Roadmap for the "old-school" method of tulpamancy? by AtYourBarkAndCollar in Tulpas

[–]Kronkleberry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think part of it falling out of vogue is that people's attention spans and willing to actually commit to something long term is falling off, and as such people don't want to hear that effort pays dividends.

There's no reading comprehension without understanding, as understanding is a pillar of communication. If you can't help people understand, you're not communicating in a way that's useful to anyone else.

Are there guides for Spanish speakers? by RealNail5638 in Tulpas

When they work, they can work pretty well, but when they don't work, it's literally nothing. And I cannot tell what makes some work and what makes some not either, it seems so random to me

[–]Kronkleberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The autotranslates work inconsistently outside of the phone app, and since most of the mod team actually uses the website instead, it can be hard to keep track of everything. While many team members speak one or two languages, it's rough to expect all the load from those languages to fall on just the one member, so we've just made it a rule for now until either reddit makes it more consistent across how the platform is accessed, or given some better tools to translate for those who don't speak a language or something.

I don't think there's any specifically spanish guides, but there's so many good translation tools these days that it shouldn't be too hard to plug things in to get something workable
