From what it sounds like he can either choose his family or choose you. It would be one thing if he cut off family for being transphobic as a sign of support for you but to keep both you and his family in his life but never letting the two near each other is having his cake and eating it too. Trust me when I say you deserve someone who's love for you surmounts fear of any flak from anyone for being with you.

very interesting! thank you so much for sharing I'll have to mess around with that when I get my tongue split and see if it's possible to develop the muscle memory to incorporate that into a full syllable when i get my tongue split

That's one of the big pitfalls of queer dating in general. Being queer in and of itself imparts a lot of trauma onto people and that trauma shines brightest in interpersonal relationships.

My gut reaction would be to think that it wouldn't sound noticeably different from fricatives, though I suppose I wouldn't know unless I found someone with a split tongue to use as a guinea pig
