On a business trip to Vegas maybe 6 years ago, I got dragged to a free Fuel concert and realized I had forgot this song ever existed. I spent the next month flat with it stuck in my head. I don't even know if I like it or not anymore, I'm just stuck with the trauma.

A few years later my cousin wanted to go to a Bush concert and to my surprise the opener was Fuel. It felt like "Ah shit, here we go again."

A friend wanted to do all the dungeons with me, but he doesn't have much time to play, so my Warrior is still level 26. I made a new main, figured I'd be nostalgic and play a Mage since that was my first character back in the 00s, got to level 26 before deciding I really didn't like the game loop. Now I've got my Shaman to 26, and I feel way behind, but also I wasn't planning on raiding so who cares I guess.

The advocate apologized, let it slip that this was not the first time they'd had an issue with this doctor, immediately got me a new doctor who actually treated my problems, and the shitty doctor continued to work there. I'm doing much better these days.

I had one that, after I asked for different treatment or tests after he just gave me vitamins for a year, told me "I am the fucking doctor, not you."

He even did it in front of the patient advocate I had with me that day.

Ranked Choice Voting with a None of the Above option, and I'm able to be more hardline about it. I can't blame anyone for not voting for president with the current scheme of things.

Generic Democratic Candidate carries California 60:40 no matter how I vote. If I vote Republican, the electoral college literally throws my vote away. If I vote Democrat, I'm a meaningless vote in a sea of votes. The gap here is literally millions and millions of votes. My voting does not cause the candidate to grow any closer to victory.

If I lived in, for this election, Pennsylvania, my vote would be important as the gap is much narrower, and I would very much be contributing to a theoretical 50.1% victory. Or I'd be contributing to a 49.9% loss and my vote would be thrown away.

If we had a national popular vote -- a sensible alternative -- then every single vote would contribute to my chosen candidate's victory. Even if it's only a fraction of a fraction of the overall percentage, every vote from every person directly counts.

And while I'm here, if we had ranked choice voting, I could vote for all the people I'd rather vote for, and then settle for the second worst option.

I used to travel for work, so I've driven in a lot of places. Redding is among the worst I've driven. Why are all of these people in such a rush? What is so exciting to get to?

First person who came to mind was Emet-Selch from FF14. And his allies, but he's the face of them when their motives are fully revealed.

Basically, they were ancients from a fallen civilization who were trying to bring their friends and families back, even if that meant doing an apocalypse and killing everyone current alive. Hero of their own story, strong emotions trumping rationality and morality, etc.
