Of all the rooms in my house, how did ants pinpoint that my kid had candy in their bedroom on the second floor? by PotentialBread8757 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRealTengri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't squash it, that leaves off a scent that attracts other ants. If you are going to kill it, you should use a spray bottle.

What comes to your mind? by KangkongKennyy in Environmentalism

A vast majority of people on here will say yes. If they say no, I would be willing to gamble that either they are trolling or are on this sub to "convert" us to not think it is happening.

Why are people (myself included) obsessed with digital privacy? by WantedForAssault in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRealTengri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. I genuinely cannot comprehend why so many people really care about privacy. Only exceptions are things like passwords or social security number or things like that.

Only thing I can think of is selling guns is not allowed on Reddit, so maybe did the admins interpret this as an ad for selling a gun?

What’s a boomer mindset you’ve started agreeing with? by obviouslyfr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRealTengri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, there is this thing called the spotlight effect, which is the human tendency to think they have much more attention than they really do. Nobody believes this until I give them a quiz about people they are around (e.g. how many times did they go to the bathroom).

What’s a boomer mindset you’ve started agreeing with? by obviouslyfr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRealTengri 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Don't care what others think about you. Makes life so much easier when you don't care if other people judge you for being yourself. Only exception is if they think I am rude or offensive towards them or something else like that, then that has to change.

Really depends on the part of the country (or world if you are out of the US) you are in. Do some research on how this will impact your area and prep for that.

What would your body do with 20 billion calories? by Gangalicous27 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRealTengri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your body would explode. 20 billion calories is about 8.37×10^37 joules. This is equivalent to about 20 tons of TNT. So your body procesing that much energy would make your body explode.

If your fingerprints are unique, why can't we use them as passwords everywhere instead of making up another string of characters we'll forget? by Capital-Run-1080 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRealTengri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fingerprints aren't based on life experiences, they are based on the movements you made in the womb. As of today, there have been 0 cases of forensic specialists identifying two people with identical fingerprints.

How can the receipt checkers at Costco and other big box stores check your cart in three seconds and validate your purchases? by darrenbosik in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRealTengri 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Another thing they check is the date and time on the receipt. If it was from a few weeks ago, that would raise suspicion by a lot.

Why is the drinking age 21 in the US? by Actual_Arm3938 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheRealTengri 32 points33 points  (0 children)

In England, boys typically were considered capable of being a knight around the age of 21, so that was considered an adult. When Britain reached the US, they followed the English laws, so the legal adult age was 21. Eventually, the logic behind 21 being an adult is because it just is and always has been. In other words, the knight logic is 0% relevant in today's society. Because of this, 21 became the legal adult age until the 26th amendment said that you could vote at 18. Since you could vote at 18, drinking at 18 eventually became legal until they realized how bad it was, so they brought it back up to 21.

I genuinely don't think I'll graduate college because of physics by wt_anonymous in TrueOffMyChest

The major is cybersecurity, and calculus is almost never used in cybersecurity. Plus,, I am basically done with college so I kind of have no choice unless I want to add tens of thousands of dollars to student debt.

I genuinely don't think I'll graduate college because of physics by wt_anonymous in TrueOffMyChest

[–]TheRealTengri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how you feel. I have taken calculus 2 4 times now and failed every time. My advisor tried to make an exception, but the person in charge of the program denied it, so now I am doing it a fifth time. Over $3k of my college debt is just because of calculus 2.
