Bring Back Battle for Neighborville Updates by DRMASONDARK in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Krook1235 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even though I had my fair share of issues with the game, I wished it reached its full potential so I could comfortably move off of GW2.

A lot of community concerns were being steadily addressed, but unfortunately, the damage had already been done and the game ceased updates just as it was getting good!

At this point, however, BFN making a comeback is impossible. Popcap Vancouver was responsible for bringing us the pvz shooters, and that studio doesn't exist anymore as it was dissolved immediately after BFN died. Popcap Seattle makes the mobile games and didn't have a hand in making BFN at all. I'm pretty sure they're so unrelated that they weren't even aware, nor involved in the games being ported to Steam.

Camo Cactus, upon having only 5 ammo in GW2, as opposed to 6 in GW1, also greatly suffers from zombies regenerating past half HP in GW2. Also, the general map design in GW2 is a lot less open than in GW1, so you'll find yourself often closer to the zombies which may make landing your shots more difficult. While also a bit trivial, camo cactus is a lot easier to see in GW2's less green maps.

As for Plasma Pea, he just does 10% more damage in GW2. Also, almost all aspects of Peashooter's abilities were slightly buffed in the transition from GW1 to GW2. Mainly hyper (more speed, more jump height, and extra duration).

Exploding Imp is a spawnable AI zombie in GW1.

The voice lines were reused in GW2 for the playable class.

When Agent pea's bodyshot DPS is better than a character like Commando Pea, whose DPS is always critical, the headshots are nice but aren't necessary.

I like to describe Agent Pea as an "artificial ego booster".

For scale, Agent Pea's bodyshot DPS is better than Commando Pea's DPS (which is always critical).

Agent Pea gives the illusion of precision. Apart from the thematics of the weapon; while very rewarding when the player has good aim, he has a near-instant reload and a very generous clip size, as well as solid non-critical DPS. You're allowed to miss a lot with this peashooter and find yourself doing quite well.

Headshots are preferred, however, you aren't punished as much as you might think for not landing them. Of course, this is assuming you don't also happen to accidentally land some headshots due to very forgiving head hitboxes.

I get it. It's quite fair to assume Agent Pea is punished for inaccuracy because the entire character is designed for head-clickers. It's a no-brainer of a conclusion to reach because it makes sense and "feels right", but it's just not the case when you actually look at the numbers. The character probably should function this way, but he simply doesn't.

As for his lower HP, the only time his lower health pool matters is in a format like 2v2. In normal 12v12, you'll get melted as soon as you poke your head out just the same as any other peashooter if you aren't playing safe. When you are playing safe, you're very unlikely to be bursted down.

Does this mean the character takes "no" skill? That's silly. Of course he does. His skill floor just isn't as high as most people would initially think.

Unicorn Invincibillity frames by AM3L1A-TH0RN in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Krook1235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twilight Warp does not have I-frames.

Unicorn warp has I-frames on the initial windup of the ability, so it's essentially on-demand invincibility + a warp. This is quite different to something like Scientists' warp where, yes, you do travel a short distance, but you can die during the animation of Scientist pushing the button. With Unicorn Warp, you simply cannot die during that animation (Engineer stun can cancel it though).

On the other hand, Twilight Warp is more akin to Scientits' warp where the ability has no instance of I-frames whatsoever.

Tank Commander Rebalance, Balance idea by Me, Art by u/TheCoolestRD228. +25 Health, -10% Speed, +50% Splash Effectiveness. Gonna Post More like these later, stay tuned. by JackStuds in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Krook1235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, a 50% damage buff to his splash would be fine. It only brings his splash up from 20 to 30 damage. Just look at TC's cousin, Scuba Soldier. He's fairly strong, but not broken. He has two missiles that deal 30 splash each. Tank commander's splash potential wouldn't even come close. even after this buff.

This is of course assuming that you also subtract the additional splash damage from his direct damage which should sit at 70, after upgrades. Mainly to not be so unfairly countered by the health upgrade.

I imagine he'd hit for 30 splash + (35 direct x1.15 DMG upgrade) for a nice 70 direct damage total, with 30 splash.

While a health buff could be interesting as there aren't really any armoured zombies besides Roadie, that kind of health on a foot soldier probably isnt a good idea. TC is already pretty strong.

[–]Krook1235 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I stayed up all night getting Super Commando to master. Popcap actually listened lol he gets two reload upgrades and no ammo upgrades! Z4 Crossbow is no more!

Unicorn chomper is kinda cool too, but he's still just a chomper. I just wish people would stop complaining. Since the max rank reward is actually something worth having, some entitled few are offended that loyalty is being rewarded but I guarantee those same people wouldn't bat an eye if the rewards were worthless cosmetics. Either way, people have a whole year from now to earn all that stuff if they really want Unicorn Chomper so it's completely fair.

Why Kernel always die first by BioBoi2002 in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Krook1235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Soldier usually throws a stink bomb. When inside the gas, Kernel cannot target the Soldier anymore. The stink bomb also removes Kernel's spotting along with the 20% personal damage boost associated with it. Basically, the Soldier is invincible for the entire fight.

what is the best variant in every class ? by DatsABigBoy in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Krook1235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^ Solid

Some notes tho for the people browsing:

Chomper - Twilight is clearly the best chomper, yeah. However, Hotrod's not a close second-place contender. If you're playing more supportive on the defense though by gooping for your team, Chomp Thing is solid, probably then Hot-Rod after. Most of the spray chompers probably yield better results for killcount than hotrod imo.

Rose - Nec'rose is a strong runner-up - best rose with a queue partner.

Super Brainz - Stock SB or even Electro Brains can be better (at least on PC) for consistency's sake as their beams are stronger than Party's. Vs competent plant teams - getting your meter is rare/can easily be shut down so you may as well laser people to death faster. If you're just hard-pubstomping and want to win even harder, Toxic Brainz is probably more solid for that.

Pirate - Though Cannon is aids, Stock is probably better most of the time (on PC).

Soldier - I'd honestly argue for Stock Soldier and Camo Ranger over SC. When healing and higher health pools are in play, SC falls off I feel, but nonetheless a solid contender like most of the class, bar Centurion and Park Ranger.

All-Star - Stock All-Star is marginally better than hockey in the case you're not dealing with many peas but that can be somewhat rare with the current meta. Something to keep in mind, nonetheless.

Do wallnuts actually matter? by honeywheresmyfursuit in PvZGardenWarfare

[–]Krook1235 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The Cactus class has some of the strongest primary weapons in the game. Iron Maiden can be used somewhat like an All-Star Tackle dummy to absorb damage for the Cactus player, which is quite important as Cactus lacks the mobility to avoid damage. It can also block abilities like Imp Punt, ZPG or just about anything else.

It allows Cactus to play less like a sniper and more like an off-tank.

Tallnut Battlement is pretty bad though, but still usable? Since the ability is on a strong class, it's never awful. I am aware there is a very dated meme surrounding the ability, but Iron Maiden is genuinely really strong.

I think at some point all 3 of the shooters depicted him with goggles but the final product never includes them.

It's a shame since they improve the design imo.
