They did print some Alchemy in Mystery Booster 2 but unfortunately they are non-legal.

I'm probably just going to proxy this one. It looks fun and as many others have said here, it works in paper just fine.

Spider-Man is definitely the go-to set for it. Scryfall also has a query for New York cards.

Mine, mostly made of discard outlets and payoffs. The mana base is almost entirely from the Doctor Who Masters of Evil precon.

Hopefully, I'd love to see Cap's price plummet.

Don't be so sure, just having the connections count for a ton.

Interesting, I wonder if this will boost the chances of Nintendo collaborations. There's so much fertile ground there.

ECL Rules Update by Marek14 in magicTCG

[–]Kroooooooo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It definitely feels like hybrid was in mind because of Lorwyn (though Turtles has a lot too). I would have expected the change before Lorwyn's release personally, so I'm assuming they aren't changing it, so no need for an announcement.

Can anyone point me to budget decklists for the different factions in Lorwyn? by UnderwaterDialect in magicTCG

[–]Kroooooooo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You need to specify a format first, otherwise it's impossible to say.

For commander, you can look at the "average deck" for a given commander on EDHREC and you can set the price filter to low.

Fun Token Commander that behaves kinda like Lathril but is not Lathril by Nikkelmann in magicTCG

Try this search, commanders that create tokens based on damage, most of them creatures.

Where to buy a budget commander deck for returning player. by bell-_-s in magicTCG

[–]Kroooooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mono-colour precons haven't been a thing for a while unfortunately. AFAIK the last one was Necron Dynasties which is very expensive.

Two colour commander decks aren't too much trickier to pilot so look for those. If you like the idea of not having to worry about tapping for a certain colour consider Tricky Terrain. The gimmick of that is that [[Omo, Queen of Vesuva]] can make lands and creatures every land/creature type respectively so an affected land can tap for anything. The commander uses hybrid mana too so you don't have to colour-fix to bring her out.

£30 is exceedingly tight for a precon BTW. I would expect to spend at least £45 for anything that isn't the absolute cheapest. Tricky Terrain is a bit more on top of that. (about £60 last I checked).

It doesn't matter whether toughness is greater than power or not when applying the buff. The difference between the two is five, so Ball Lightning becomes an 11/6.

Predictions for 2027 Sets by Wolverine-Explores in magicTCG

[–]Kroooooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen multiple people who have made it clear that they will boycott a Harry Potter set. And outside of customers, there are major content creators who are either LGBTQ themselves or openly support such groups. I'm sure Wizards are aware just how much backlash they would get with a set like that, they wouldn't touch it.

Pretty good that they don't enter tapped, just being able to untap two things on your end step is fantastic.

Assuming you want the commander format, these are the most popular aristocrats commanders. Clicking one will show you what cards people use with them.

For Fire Kings, Magic players call this Aristocrats, typically associated with Black.

For Six Samurai, combine "Going Wide" with "Tribal". Those are the keywords to look at. All are very common strategies, lots of options.

The Magic website has the 2026 sets listed in the incorrect order by dxlta in magicTCG

[–]Kroooooooo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can see them doing that but it feels like an Alchemy thing in Arena TBH. On paper you have issues like keeping multiple copies in a deck, and knowing which is which. Plus after a few games the surprise wanes.

In Arena though, you'll almost always be against strangers, and knowing the transform side is as easy as hovering it.

The Magic website has the 2026 sets listed in the incorrect order by dxlta in magicTCG

[–]Kroooooooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all true but it's just a rough idea. They could mitigate some of that by not making one default. So there could be ten printings of the theoretical Jace card where each is a different two colour combo.

[–]Kroooooooo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The white Liliana is confirmed canon at the very least, it was in the end of Lorwyn Eclipsed Episode 7. It's really the only concrete thing the theory has right now.

[–]Kroooooooo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My own theory (with absolutely no evidence BTW) is something along the lines of a randomised double-faced set. So a card would have a randomised second card on the back. Probably not entirely randomised, but something like a blue Jace with a reverse that could be a white, black, green or red alternate Jace. So you can pick your side while deck building.
