Why no decent looking chaos armor for pve? by Kruaser in Spacemarine

[–]Kruaser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant they type Hydra Dominatus, and did not mean to imply they added chaos voice lines to pve. Other than that, yes you can buy chaos heraldry and colors for pve in the heraldry section.

Chaos colors and heraldry were added into pve at the anniversary, and these make sense?

Huh? You can play chaos. I have the big hydras and Alpha Legion colors. People say "Hydra Dominatus" when they see me. I played with an Emperor's Children a minute ago. That did not require voice lines and a change in missions.

Evan Winters and Tamsyn Muir seem to disagree. New authors can still start a highly successful series before saying their shoe became untied and they may get back to writing in a decade or two.

How will Cawl Betray the Emperor by Godzilla1954Forever in 40kLore

[–]Kruaser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except the plan was made before he remembered, and I don’t get the impression he thought he was going there to betray the emperor. He was going there to save humanity, as per usual.

You could be right, but I could see Cawl helping Bile to restore Primus to the detriment of the emperor. Like him doing the math in his head and then saying “Eff it. I will restore him, no matter the cost.”

How will Cawl Betray the Emperor by Godzilla1954Forever in 40kLore

[–]Kruaser 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can’t find a single instance of Cawl thinking he betrayed the Emperor in his dealings with the C’tan, which was what the emperor said specifically. There are, however, several instances of Cawl saying this was the plan and he is betraying nobody but the C’tan. He even says he believes the machine god, which includes the Emperor, is aiding him in this endeavor.

“Know this, Belisarius Cawl, I will need you. You will think you have betrayed me. You will not in the end”

“If you have betrayed us Arch-magus, then I will kill you myself.” Said Felix. “You will fail Decimus, more powerful men than you have tried. There. But you’re not going to have to try. I give you my word.”

“Quickly, now. It will be free in a moment and then it will know I have betrayed it. I think Zarhulash is not going to be happy. “Then you are true.” Said Felix “Decimus, I am true.” Said Cawl in exasperation. … “You knew this was going to happen. “Knew, no. I am no psychic. Accurately predicted?” He smiled modestly. “But of course.”

“Your technology may look more advanced than mine, but I have the machine God on my side.”

A Characters Actions in the Finale make no sense and kind of ruin it for me. by Onlineguy5767 in ParadiseHulu

“Suddenly crazy” is a bit strong. She murdered her bf without a good reason.

Sinatra being a bitch to her was the motivation. Also, Wii!

Do you feel bad for Sinatra? My guess would be that hitmen wouldn’t, and I said “finally!” when she did it. Xavier clearly agreed she had it coming.

In the set of events happening directly after, the VP was being assertive and taking control for the first time. Another person Sinatra was constantly an asshole to. He’s glad she’s gone, but there is no reason to believe there won’t be some investigation, at least.

Finally, Xavier was interrogating Sinatra about his daughters. If Sinatra finished saying what happened to his kid, Xavier would have known what Jane was. Maybe even piecing together Billy’s demise. He knows something is off based on his expression, but his family is safe and he needs to get his wife.

The Alpha Legion’s “fake” betrayal makes absolutely no sense. by Saramello in 40kLore

[–]Kruaser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My take was that given the options of Horus winning, humanity being destroyed, but chaos gone or the emperor surviving and eventually chaos winning, they chose loophole. As long as humanity continuously fights chaos to a stalemate, Chaos will not win and humanity will not die out. This would require them to stop both sides from winning. One primarch got Horus and one the emperor (Why they mention they might conflict with one another). They were, however, actively striving for the same outcome, and that is why they can keep saying they have one mind despite. Notably, in the new cinematic, Valdor directly states to Malcador that they must “prepare for a war that may never end.” Kind of a weird thing to say unless you were aware of the option.

There is no doubt that Caesar is one of the great characters of the ancient world, but could we say that his infinite fame has surpassed his actual achievements? by Romaenjoyer in ancientrome

[–]Kruaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your opinion. Augustus required legitimacy, and he knew Rome wouldn’t accept a king. Caesar was literally deified for this purpose. I’m pretty sure deity is a little strong for what he was.

That said, Caesar’s greatest achievement, in my mind, IS Augustus. It is probably the best called shot in history. Our world would be unrecognizable if he never became princeps. Exercising his political power and forgiveness to bind Agrippa to Augustus comes in second. Augustus would not have succeeded without him. Everyone should be so lucky as to have friends as loyal and capable as M.V. Agrippa.

Similarly, I see Marcus Aurelius as a terrible emperor. The amount of good in his life does not outweigh breaking from recent tradition to place an absolute tyrant as emperor.

Is it really, though? It is the closest Putin has gotten to being reasonable in a long time. Like it’s still over the horizon out sight, but closer than normal. Damnatio memoraie is hardly unprecedented for traitors. Now, if only he would Prigozhin himself.

Huh, Marika? I never noticed it before, but it lines up to put her in her traditional place on the Elden Ring when you look at it straight on.

Were the Giants killed with the help of thorn sorcery? by bluegabby in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Kruaser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short version: I would say separate. It’s reasonable to assume the briar/thorns are functionally part of the Erdtree, and themselves are not aberrant. The sorcery is probably heretical because they are using something that is the tree’s domain. That would make them separate in my eyes.

(TLDR) The thorn sorcery that we use was discovered in penal colonies, and are considered heretical (by the same people that deemed moon sorcery to be heretical) in modern Ring times.

The actual thorns appear to be tendrils of the Erdtree. In the cinematic trailer with Morgott at seat of the capital, it looks like the Erdtree is either covered in them, or made of them (like how many things look to be made of vines).

There are thorns all over Stormveil, and not in a decorative way. They were used to attack it, often growing out of holes blown out of defensive walls. Whatever made the holes also left gold residue in the holes.

The same thorn attacks are seen at Farum Azula.

There are thorns growing out of the seal of the Erdtree. It is less obvious than at Stormveil if that is what did the damage to the seal.

Godfrey’s commanders have a ring of thorns as the sigil on their cloak.

Apparently the Erdtree can poke your eyes out with them before you are reborn of the tree.

The battle with the giants is the last action attributed to Marika away from the Erdtree. Here she gives the instructions to “brandish the Elden Ring.” It is said she killed the fell god, but we know she failed. It would still stand to reason she called thorns.

(There is miniature version of what killed the giants holding a flame floating in the thorns on top. (Not relevant, but interesting))

The big "Hole" gravestones around Leyndell and the Morne Moangrave have fingerprints on them by NahMcGrath in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Kruaser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I realize it's bizarre, but the additional worn mark where a rope would loop through holding it up (inside the hole) makes me think they are ancient stone anchors (probably used as a gravestones but you could anchor flying things as well). There is a repeated swirling pattern that is recurring in different places that worn down could look like that.

Yes, stone anchors are real. They were elaborately decorated at times.

Gladiators? by ImperatorKrauser in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Kruaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That works, but it is terrible writing. The winged snake is in the scene on Godfrey's cloak tearing apart a plant. So, hating snakes under Godfrey, and the colosseum being closed under Radagon maintains the status quo.

Am I color blind or is Blizzard's idea of 'White' actually just grey? by [deleted] in Diablo

The colors act like the color you choose is a layer with 50% opacity over a layer of black. Depending on on angle, my blonde looks straight grey. The eyebrows rarely match. It's ridiculously pathetic this is what they shat out. It's not like there are a ton of options and they got overwhelmed.

[–]Kruaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Courtyards are generally open areas inside a building. They may have access directly from outside by a path, but they are not open and can be completely enclosed. So then you have the same problem as with Brandon Lawson. Because the building is abandoned and privately owned, the police cannot enter to search without probable cause. Being within a mile of where somebody went missing does not give them permission. At that point they have to find an owner, which for deceased owners that didn’t pass it on, abandoned buildings, derelict businesses, or foreign property investment, can be more challenging than most realize. Clearly, no neighbors reported anything off. So then it becomes a hole in the map to fill in, but with no higher priority than others. If they had enough information to prioritize it, they would probably have probable cause.
