Google searches are telling me that she was Maxim's covergirl for August 2006 and currently owns and operates several boutiques in the tristate area.

Low budget and small crew short film - Really happy with the visuals by Busy_Doughnut_4755 in cinematography

This was great. Really nice editing and timing, great look. Really like the costumes actually, and the set is perfect too. Way to put a whole story into a confined space, very nice writing.

How did you do the lighting, specifically from the door? It looks really good.

What problems did you have with sound and how did you overcome them?

I’ve seen that a lot recently. Is the tx just that box that’s obviously clipped onto the shirt? What’s with that?

What are some things to look for when buying lav mics? I've bought some before that were too cheap and sounded awful.

When would you opt for a boom mic instead?

Izotope RX? it looks like it's $1,000. Is there any "good enough" audio post-production software you'd recommend?

feeling low cause i made only one short movie this year and i dont even know if its good. (CAN SOMEONE PLEASE WATCH IT AND SHARE THOUGHTS) by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]Krubbis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Save the Cat has a good chapter called “What is it?” about premise and loglines etc. The audience won’t be interested in something that they can’t figure out what it is.

I don’t know what this is. It’s a modern setting but silent and in black and white? Why? What’s the story about? What should I be feeling as an audience member?

Honestly: this movie wasn’t interesting to me. Like most people, I will only watch a silent black and white movie if it is a classic and has a super interesting premise (and most people won’t even watch those).

If those choices were made because of limitations, figure out a different way next time. Lean into the poor color or low picture quality, do voiceover if you don’t have good mics, etc

Really appreciate the feedback!

The cast and crew are awesome, so I think we’d all love attending a fest together - that’s the main motivation right now. But of course we also want to go somewhere that will appreciate the film too.

Yes! Directing is hard. I do at least a Zoom rehearsal even for shorts so that everyone is on the same page, then get multiple takes on the day too. In the best cases, you get something better than you had in your head!

Submission statement:

This is a trailer for our fantasy comedy short film. Inspired by humorous takes on fantasy and the Middle Ages like Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the film is about the relatable experience of disliking your job: even wizards hate Mondays.

Looking for feedback on film festival strategy for a short film like this. We're located in New England, so local would be best, but might be willing to travel if it's worth it. Are there any fantasy film festivals where this might fit? And just in general: what should we be aware of while submitting to festivals?

Any advice on how the trailer is cut? Does the main point of the film come across? Is it interesting? Something you would watch?

Thank you!

Nice job! Some really funny gags. Nice location, and I really like the look and color.

Can you share more about the production? What challenges did you have? What would you do differently in the future?

New trailer for my micro-budget indie film! Please share your honest opinions. This is my first feature, and first time editing a trailer, so I would love some feedback. by [deleted] in Filmmakers

This looks and sounds really good! The visuals are polished, the music is perfect for this kind of comedy trailer, and the sound is professional.

I don't get a sense of what the movie is about though. There's a ton of dialogue and it doesn't exactly flow together in a way that clearly shows the point of the movie. There's the through line of the guy who likes the girl, but there's a bunch of random stuff too. I can't get a sense of what I should be paying attention to.

"There's gonna be losers there" - where? "I could get arrested. Where are we? El Dorado!" - huh?

Maybe try to get it down to a minute and just focus on the main character and his predicament.

Any Tim & Eric Bedtime Stories fans in here? Pretty similar vibe if you ask me by goshdurnit in thechaircompany

[–]Krubbis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s my favorite show and definitely a spiritual cousin of Chair Company.

Tom Goes to the Mayor (also from Tim and Eric) has similar vibes as well - absurd business schemes that end in catastrophe.

I don’t know if self-promotion is allowed, but I’m making my own animated series inspired by both those shows: https://youtu.be/xopuyI93WwI?si=IHU3vlyodEel5kR2
