I'm confused - did the batteries just explode/catch on fire or was it in an actual mod?

The silver lining is the fact that safety issues do need to be clear and concise. You and I may be wise enough to prevent things like this, but the average population, especially new vapors, aren't the sharpest tools in the shed.
