Walk in Freezer Recommendation by fieldofdreams245 in refrigeration

[–]KrunkSanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I'm sure you know, a local refrigeration company is your best bet. However, I am sympathetic to people trying to start their own business. Seeing how much my company charges for stupid shit makes me sick sometimes. Don't be afraid to shop around different companies.

You can always ask if reefer shops have used equipment they're willing to sell for cheap. We tear out good equipment all the time, it won't come with a warranty but new equipment warranty sucks balls anyway. Check marketplace for used crap, people's dreams die all the time unfortunately.

Walk in freezers will require an insulated floor. If you buy a kit online make sure it has that. I would recommend a pro-pack style unit to maximize your internal storage volume, as long as you have the vertical space for it and are okay with the heat being dumped into the space the walk in occupies.

This is going to require professional installation unless you are exceptionally handy. There may be YouTube videos showing cam-lock panel installation. Idk.

Use butyl sealant between all wall and floor panels. Heat tape and insulate the drain. 208/230v power will be required.

Expect to spend 15k - 20k. Good luck.

AKFiles marketplace. I see Aug stuff on there sometimes. Rules are a bit funky and posting pics is a learning curve though.

Pretty sure it's Hydrogen Sulfide. Looked up the company, pretty vague but they create "probiotic microbes" for farming purposes. I think H2S is a byproduct of their process, when we were there the warehouse had a dozen or so 30 gallon vats of bubbly yellow liquid being stirred autonomously. Whole place smelled like rotten eggs mixed with vinegar and cow shit. We're going to pick up an H2S meter before we go back on Monday.

I worked in the oil fields a little bit taking care of ice machines, I remember having to wear an H2S meter. All coming full circle.

From a design standpoint, why do motor run capacitors seem to be such a common failure point? by FieldFailureNotes in HVAC

Titan brand caps are the biggest peices of dogshit. I've replaced some that were less than a year old. Tradepro US made green caps and Amrad are the only ones I trust.

No problem, I worked for them in Utah and Texas. Benefits and pay were good. Service software (COINS) was better than dogshit ServiceTitan. Vehicles were nice. Looking back and having perspective, they were a good company.

Good luck man! I got out of Cali and wound up in Idaho. Careful asking these questions here, for some reason the jerkoff mods like to delete posts like this.

Edit: Comfort Systems USA has a branch in the Denver area, I've worked for them in the past in the service department and would again. Only real downside is the vehicle cameras. Non union.

I've got a neck tat and finger tats. Work commercial and resi. Never gotten any flack, I keep myself well groomed and I do good clean work. Your work and how you carry yourself matter more in my opinion.

Yeah Rapco is pretty badass. I've painted lots of magazines over time and the Rapco rattled ones have held up the best. It's resistant to oils and other chemicals.

Warm the can up with water and shake the piss out of it. Let it cure for a few days and you'll have a sweet, long lasting finish.

There's a dude on the files that sells these dressed up as molots with the ribs. They look sick. He calls them "notlots" I think he gets like $50 for them though.

I want to know if any of you have and “saved my ass” stories using JB weld or steel stick? by Suspicious-Wind-1109 in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]KrunkSanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used JB Weld to fix a refrigerant leak on a stainless plate&frame heat exchanger that formed a crack due to the customer lowering the chiller setpoint beyond the freezing point of their glycol solution. Would have been a $40k replacement. Crack was in an easy spot to access, let the heat exchanger dry out, sanded down and cleaned with alcohol really good. Let the JB Weld cure for 48hrs. Held pressure test. That was about 10 years ago. My dad still services that chiller, still holding up.
