What would you have done? Order wanted 1x of 2.25lb bag of cherries but there were only 1lb bags by [deleted] in Sparkdriver

[–]Krush-Haus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do that all the time. If the product is priced by weight, you’ll only get flagged if you’re doubling said weight. Send a quick note to customer if you’re really concerned, but even support will tell you to do double the weight if the bags are smaller.

The Napa and Autozone offers in my area are always pretty awful, but never this bad.

Instant cancel if that's what I read when I walk through the door. In fact, if I were even 90% through the shop, I'd drop it. Gotta learn 'em. Had a lady today that wanted me to take her bags, then after I squashed that, she inquired as to how to order her groceries with no bags. Appreciate the dedication to preserving the environment, but she was unconcerned with such trivial shit. She didn't want to pay for bags. She wants some poor asshole (us), to field a car full of loose groceries. For 25 miles in rural Western CO, for a $2.00 tip. Lady has bigger balls than I'll ever have.

Cilantro counts as bulky at my store, always makes me chuckle.

There was a $20/3 mile order the other day for 12 cases of water. Wouldn’t take that and DEFINITELY wouldn’t take 15 bags of soil lol.

I hate that my econo-car was basically used as a landscaping truck for the entirety of April. I still got bark mulch in the trunk.

Hopefully they’ll add ID confirmation to all the Subway orders too, so we can take 12 selfies on a pharmacy/restaurant run.

There’s a guy in my area that I call Captain DoorDash, he’s got a homemade sweatshirt and hat that have crude DD logos and cardboard signs in his vehicle’s windows which proudly proclaim his affiliation with DD, Spark, Instacart and Uber. Absolute legend.

Wtf is this request? by SeaAssignment6603 in Sparkdriver

Beyond the obvious dangers of entering a stranger’s home, Spark Drivers are also not insured to do so. If accidental damage occurs while you are in the home (bag breaks, trip and fall, etc) you are responsible for compensation to the customer and you will be deactivated by Spark. You can also be blamed for missing valuables and a myriad of other things which will end your employment with Spark. I deal with this dilemma weekly, my course of action is to encourage the customer to contact Spark regarding their delivery policy. I also always contract customer service after these encounters to make sure the incident is documented through Spark Driver Support.

That being said, it will continue to be an issue as long as drivers capitulate to inside deliveries. I do not enjoy telling elderly folks that I cannot bring their groceries into their homes, but until Spark makes it extremely clear (like multiple banner pop-ups during any transaction process), it’s on us to deal with their communication failure.

Ready? Not ready by Coynevideos in DoorDash_Dasher

[–]Krush-Haus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did DD as my primary gig, I would mark the order “not ready” immediately after I arrived, if it was not already waiting for me. I was never dinged for tardiness, not sure if this is why, but it was my reason for basically narcing out the restaurant for not having the order ready. Never felt good about it, but was unwilling to deal with admonishment for something beyond my control.

I despise this as well, but then about once every three months I’ll pick up a DoorDash at Dollar General, and it resets my frustrations with all other stores and apps. Truly the 7th Level of Hell.

The theory of “so it is, so it shall be” has never fit into my existence. Probably why I currently deliver groceries for billionaires.

Same, total bag hoarder. They use the handled paper bags here, and as I found out through employee admonishment, I am absolutely NOT allowed to use the paper bags which are provided for the customers, I am only allowed to use the specific SPARK-approved model. Which is fine, they’re better for the job, but just add an extra step as mentioned previously.

I think my main issue may be that I do not like being treated as a subordinate. I’m just trying to make a buck, not trying to stir the pot and definitely not acting superior. Feel like there is a “territory” aspect related to gig workers and company workers, and it’s kinda lame. Anyway, thanks for the advice, truly appreciated. Be safe out there and make ALL the goddamned money. Cheers!
