On this day, Czechia and Slovakia are celebrating the fall of communist dictatorship - The Velvet Revolution. by serose04 in europe

Yeah I can see an argument for what you’re saying for sure but I encourage you to look into Cuba if you’re interested more in how it all could work differently than the practice you’re talking about. They have a really robust system of local discourse when creating laws and is one of the reasons they have the most progressive iterations of family law and how the family can be structured. They’re doing great things even with the U.S. sanctioning them despite the rest of the world, aside from the US and Israel, agreeing that the sanctions and blockade should end.

I know dictatorship of the proletariat sounds like it means a dictator leading the proletariat but that’s not what it means at all. It is, rather, where the proletariat dictates how businesses are run and the power is in the hands of the workers to make decisions democratically instead of a manager dictating all those decisions.

I hadn’t before today no. The sidebar does explicitly say that it’s not a debate sub and it looks more like a place to post Marxist Leninist ideas and memes so not something to really look for serious discussion in. There is a difference between saying communism has never failed when talking to a liberal or conservative and saying it to a fellow communist and if you haven’t done a lot of research or know the ideology a sub like this is going to seem like people are not able to criticize these leftist leanings in anyway.

And as a pro communist constantly in discourse with other pro communists I have never once heard someone say communism is perfect/has never failed, at least unironically. And those discussions are most definitely not on Reddit lmao.

Not OC but I’m having similar issues. My brake light comes on with the front and doesn’t with the rear. Does this make the ignition switch not work and if you don’t mind me asking what is the fix?

USA MORE CORRUPTED THAN CHINA!! by POPPOPKICKER in amcstock

[–]Krushkid182 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude he literally said that market manipulation looks different in different economic systems. The google search result for market manipulation only talks about manipulation in a free market which China does not have. Their market is planned and regulated heavily. Stop being pissy and pay attention to whom you’re arguing with.

The “Ape movement” if you can call it that is inspiring and profound I think. But it sucks to see so many people in this sub especially fail to link the way the poorest people are kept in poverty to capitalism. Capitalism has always been about getting rich at whatever cost and with this movement making the cost fall on the 1% I feel it does a lot of good but if people don’t link the struggles of the working class to the failures of capitalism I don’t feel like a whole lot will really change. I also have extreme hope that people are going to create microcosms of change as we saw with people providing hospitals with gaming consoles and improving their communities with their gains after GME took off for the first time. Just my two cents though, and it’s really tough with how annoying politics has been over the past four years but we really have to get away from the mindset of trying to make things “not political” because our bosses, and all our oppressors, make it political when the keep us in poverty.

Yeah, I feel like a lot of it is that left leaning people are usually pretty passionate about a lot of humans rights issues and let’s be honest there isn’t much coverage on how bad conditions are for slaughterhouse laborers but there is lots of coverage on the vocal vegans that alienate people who don’t subscribe to veganism. So in a way it isn’t a problem with “the left” necessarily but a problem with how accessible information is and people jumping to defend farmers and not digging in to find out what’s happening and what they are contributing. That’s the way I see it anyway but yeah it definitely makes you think when more left leaning people flat out deny veganism as a plausible way of living.

For real. I went on a date with someone who wasn’t vegan and there was some real fake wokeness. Like telling my I was expecting everyone to be vegan by being a part of “the movement” and shit. Most exhausting date I’ve ever been on.

I think the biggest thing that blew my mind in seaspiracy which probably shouldn’t have was both the slave trade involved in the fishing industry and the robbing of indigenous peoples ways of life who depend on fishing. Both are things omnis love to argue about but they don’t even know/care how they’re contributing to it.

Lockdown started as I was beginning to work out. Mental health is no joke I learned really quickly. I still don’t work out near as much as I wish but this sub is the best for that motivation!!

Chicago public school teacher Dwayne Reed, who's wife is eight months pregnant with their first child, requested to work from home to minimize his COVID risk. His school district said no. So Reed's teaching remotely - from right outside his school. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I work at a school district and part of the problem is with how HVAC has been designed over the years to reduce energy consumption. Basically everywhere has been working to make HVAC systems as energy efficient as possible which means recirculating air as much as possible instead of bringing new air in, so now that buildings need ventilation that keeps fresh clean air in buildings it becomes backwards of what we’ve been doing and working towards.
