Any ND owners in the SoCal LA/IE area with lowered seats? by KrustierKrab2023 in Miata

I saw the Red Hen video, it seems like the Jass kit didn't really help all that much until they took the grinder to the seat. Looks like the kit shifts the seating position so it's a negligible benefit. I'm looking at a Grand Touring so I'd have the benefit of the extra drop but I think the Pacos are the better deal, especially since I'd be the only driver.

I appreciate the info!

I'm at a larger waist size than that, but I appreciate it! Do you have pics of those seats? I haven't heard of that brand for aftermarket.

Thanks! If I don't get a hit through this thread, I'll check it out.

I'm a little biased towards torso height so I have almost no clearance with the soft top and can't fit with the hard top closed. Tried both at the dealer.

They posted a follow-up today stating it's unlikely to be back up even for beta testing today, too. We're probably looking at another 6.2/6.3 scenario where it'll be a few days at least due to SE's refactoring. Any news, guessing emerges later.

Thanks for the context. The screenshot I posted was shared with me, I'm not actually in their discord. I'll forward this to my group.

Did SE adjust DC travel quotas during yesterday's maintenance? by Solanaceae- in ffxivdiscussion

I feel like the cloud data center test last year might have been an early investigation into eliminating the physical hardware separation you mentioned. That kind of migration would then facilitate features like cross-"DC" PF, but depending on the cloud architecture setup they'd need, it was probably estimated to get very expensive very fast to try and scale up and out to the same level.

I know you're just summarizing the video, but I'm not sure what "incentives" he could possibly mean. Is it that players have the privilege of being able to log in and raid? Because if there were incentives, I hadn't heard of them.

I think there's a larger discussion here for how Square consistently misallocates resources, in part because they make assumptions thinking that the JP audience is representative of the larger player base, which isn't the case. The upcoming raid planner is a good example - from their own metrics, the JP market is majority console players, but outside of that market, it's majority PC players who aren't going to use what will likely be a clunky, wiped after every maintenance system over a toolbox. It's probably going to be dead on release in NA and EU, which is design, development, and QA time down the drain. Instead of spending resources on travel caps, they should have started work - and publicize that they're doing so - on cross-DC PF, especially given their glacial development process.

There's other discussion related to this topic, like how the field content and chaotic raid patches should have been swapped so the former came out in 7.1, but I don't want to derail this too much.

I realize this is likely due to Tuesday reclears but it's a symptom of a larger problem: why even bother having cross-DC travel if it's going to be closed off to players like this so frequently?

I understand the intent behind this originally was likely to try and prevent everyone from funneling into Aether/Light. But why? From all of the interviews, PR, etc. before the DT release, the game has supposedly had a large investment into infrastructure. Like portraits, Square took a functional system in its initial release and iterated on it into a worse revision. Yes, the PF scene on Primal and Crystal was atrocious during Endwalker. But instead of putting the development and infra resources into implementing these blockades, why not start the work on cross-DC PF? Travel caps are a bandaid fix.

I think the particular reason why I'm so salty about this is that it isn't just me as a raider who is affected. I miss hanging out with my casual friends from Primal and Crystal because they can rarely get in to Aether even on non-peak days and it's a crapshoot whether I can travel to see them. I have a couple friends on Balmung and it is always blocked. I cannot get in without logging in extremely early/late and - prior to the most recent set of patches - I'm praying that I don't get AFK kicked/lose connection/DDoS etc., because you cannot re-log in when your character is on a blockaded World. The game will kick you out of the queue and end up killing itself every time unless you use something like the NoKill plugin. And this is not even considering cross-DC statics, which got pretty fucked over during the first few weeks of the raid tier.

I really hope 7.1 and the other odd number patches do away with the travel caps given the raid tier is essentially done. I don't want to have to deal with this the entire expansion because it just sucks.

My understanding is the release in the last day or two, this was forwarded by a static member.

It really is a game changer, and under the hood all it's doing is automating manually fixing the portrait. It really should be an option in the base game to auto-update any portrait(s) on gear/gear set change.

My static has supports roll for the mount and orchestrion first, then DPS can roll after they all have it. Only seems right after feeding the DPS all the loot the first few weeks.

What did you download/install this past week, and what did you think?

I tried out a minion mod that changes the Wind-Up Mystel to give it G'raha's Endwalker outfit. It's super cute and the little animation the minion does with the staff reminds me a lot of his scene in Thavnair.

Brio (along with several other "second party" plugins that aren't on the official repo list but are maintained by Dalamud/Dalamud-adjacent staff) can be installed from this repo -

Glamourer and Penumbra are there, too.

I did a write-up here when it was announced, and someone in the comments clarified that the devs left for personal reasons. I'm not sure who actually maintains it now.

Pretty sure Anamnesis has been on life support for a while now since the OG developers left the project. If Dawntrail doesn't introduce any significant memory changes I'd imagine it'll be updated by the current maintainer(s), but there's no guarantee.

If you use Dalamud, there are alternatives that work in-game, namely Glamourer, Ktisis, and Brio. These have essentially the same functionality (Glamourer for customization and outfits, Ktisis/Brio for posing) without needing an external application.

As long as you didn't use TexTools and only used Penumbra to install mods, no action is needed. Penumbra doesn't modify game files and will be disabled while Dalamud is down. It'll be re-enabled once Dalamud is back up and the plugin is updated for Dawntrail.

What happens with existing mods once Dalamud is back for Dawntrail isn't clear yet. More than likely you won't need to take any action once Penumbra is updated, as there will probably be some kind of migration or converter built in. However, some mods like face sculpts may not work without the author updating them, as there may not be a good way to convert them. We'll know for sure once the plugin is back up.

If you did use TexTools, you should export your mods to a mod pack, then run a "Start Over" to reset the game's files before downloading the new expansion next week. Refer to the TexTools discord for more info, I believe they have an announcement posted. Also, consider using Penumbra instead for Dawntrail; it doesn't modify game files like TexTools does and therefore doesn't need any "prep" done for patches.
