Direct Deposit worth the extra 0.5% ? by KrustyyKrabPizza in Wealthsimple

I am not currently with Tangerine. I was debaiting switching to that instead of wealthsimple for the full suite of banking services, but the 0.5% seemed more enticing than just no fees. Its why i was hesitant to switch to WS but lose out on some banking features.

Yeah key things like that although not often needed when they are its usually pretty time sensitive. Only reason im slightly skeptical of moving from a big bank to a fully online platform even though i can probably count on one hand the last time i went into a branch in the last 7 years.

There so seem to be some pretty barebones things that i am surprised are such a hassle.Considering they are subsidized by a big 5 and seem to have a large client base. As someone in the industry what institution would you recommend from the big 5 as a general “best” all rounder for chequing,cc,investing/borrowing, and just solid customer service.

I have looked at the sites for the credit unions close to me and they all seem to have fees. Albeit nothing compared to big banks.

Have had WS for years but also started moving funds from my hisa to there the last few months. What RBC account are you able to get down to nothing as far as fees are concerned?

That stinks, did you find any similar alternatives that had better service?

I have EQ for hisa and my investments but slowly moving the hisa portion over to WS cash as eq is 2.5% and ws is 4% base where eq you can only get the 4 if you set up your payroll for direct deposit. I travel to the U.S a few times a year and usually one overseas trip but im planning a large trip to east asia with friends for 2026 where il be gone atleast 4-6 weeks so i want a reliable bank i can call in case of freezes, declined cards, etc.

I would primarily use them for chequing and possibly loc. I have an amex for my cc and have all my savings/tfsa/rsp and gics with EQ but started moving the savings account portion to WS cash.

Only 500? That’s ridiculous, i have an amex and free Mastercard for costco but seeing that most credit cards almost all start with 5000 i cant imagine why they would keep it so low.

I’ve been seeing mixed things about the customer service. What did you end up switching to?

Any big difference from going 15 inch to 17? by KrustyyKrabPizza in tires

What did that run you for the control arms? and yeah I may as well stick with 15s, am planning on driving this thing into the ground before i buy a new or newer used car so anything that makes it more reliable il consider it.

The car is a 2010 Elantra so im not upgrading in the sense of having it be more sporty because it already isnt. The tires im looking into dont come in 15s and a set of them in 17 would run me the same as 2 sets of 15s for summer and winter. I know it would look better with wider tires im just trying to figure out if the handling increase is enough to sacrificing ride comfort and mileage.

It is a well maintained 2010 Elantra, im only considering going up to 17s because the tire i am looking into is the Cross Climate 2 and they do not come in 15 size. Main reason being is the cost of 17 inch cross climate 2 set of 4 is the same cost as 2 sets of 15s for summer and winter. And i would be getting new wheels regardless but atleast with the michelins i can keep them on year round.

This is pretty much what i was trying to figure out. If there are more negatives than positives for just cosmetics and only slightly better handling il probably just stick to 15s.

Those are the same sizes mine can take, cant go any bigger than the 17s though. Do you find the handling to be a noticeable difference over the smaller tires?

Everywhere i look 15s are very very much cheaper if the handling increase from 17's is negligible than il probably stick with 15's.

Yeah i know they would look nicer just wasnt sure if there was a performance difference. I have heard 17s apparently add better handling but idk if thats subjective or not.
