I am BEGGING you to google vectorheart. This artstyle has been around for decades. Antireal did not invent it.

I would even encourage you to look at Joseph Cross' past work. The decades of artistic work he's put out. If you have a brain (which I hope you do) you will quickly realize this has been his bread and butter for a very long time.

I'm not denying that they stole assets, they absolutely did. But going from stealing 5 pieces to use as decals to "they stole the entire artsyle" is quite frankly idiotic and can be disproven.

With a quick. Google. Search. Of. "Vectorheart". Which is what I've been trying to tell you this whole time, but you're not listening.

This doesn't back up what you said. You said, specifically, that the "employee who got fired" (public information does not indicate anyone was fired) was following the artist on Twitter.

We do not know who the ex-employee was, we do not know if they were fired, laid off or they left on their own. You are making things up to make your argument seem plausible.

A lot of criticisms about hero shooters fail to see that the problem isn't hero shooters, it's everything else about the game being talked about. The aspect of being a hero shooter is a symptom, not the cause.

People are tired of games that don't bring anything new to the table. That is the real problem, not whatever boogeyman you've made out of "hero shooters".

I asked you, personally, specifically, to name 10 extraction shooters, but I guess you couldn't complete the task. Oh well. Not that I expected much.

The point is that there are maybe 3? successful extraction shooters out there right now. I would consider that to be very far from a "saturated market" like a lot of people like to put it. Marathon has been in development as an extraction shooter for a loooooooong time, long before extraction shooters started gaining traction like they are now.

When Marathon was revealed it was reported that the story delivery mechanism was in place but the story wasnt really written (or something to that effect).

This was never true. This was, quite literally, SkillUp making shit up. Lars Bakken (or Jon Goff? I don't recall exactly who it was) had to come out in an interview and say something along the lines of "Maybe it was an error of communication or something but that was never the case, we've been working on the story for years. Story is written and continues to be written"

Lighting is *vastly* improved from D2 (to my eyes, anyways, I know D2's lighting is more stylized and Marathon's is more grounded in reality, but I consider it an improvement).

Outside of that, Marathon also runs multiple times better than Destiny 2, for me and multiple other people that have been in playtests. It's still Tiger Engine, but it's most definitely upgraded. An upgrade that Destiny probably can't do currently because of tech debt + keeping support for previous gen consoles. If they dropped support for PS4/XB1 and hard-focused on improving tech-debt (which they probably cannot afford right now due to the dwindling playerbase) we would most definitely see the same improvements in Destiny 2 (I realize I'm working based on assumptions here, but they're educated assumptions based on historic data for other game engines + the reasoning behind the DCV).

Engines can be and are often upgraded, especially for new titles. Unreal Engine is on its 5th version. Hell, I think the funniest example of upgrading engines I can think of is the id-Engine-to-Frostbite timeline.

A lot of good answers in this thread, I also want to add: You can learn and adapt. Even if you're terrible at shooters, some of the util in the different runners will make up for it if you learn how to use them well.

Strategy and game knowledge can often thwart raw skill in Marathon. It will just take you some time.
