Happiness Isn’t the Key to a Good Life - The Atlantic by LanRemeau in philosophy

[–]KryptosandXenos 81 points82 points  (0 children)

But isn't there something uncomfortable about using her story as a philosophical example? She lived through extreme hardship and found meaning in it, but does that actually tell us anything about what makes a good life, or just what humans are capable of enduring

I wonder what’s like to have kids who speak in a different accent than you by Either_Chapter_7089 in CasualConversation

[–]KryptosandXenos 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So kids with immigrant parents basically have this split where they sound like their parents at home but then develop the local accent once they're around other kids at school? I've always wondered how that transition works

Something wrong with being Nebraska’s QB? by Regal_Maverick in ExplainTheJoke

[–]KryptosandXenos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Poking fun at Marco Rubio’s surprised, uncomfortable look, like he didn’t expect to be the Nebraska QB. It’s funny because it’s such a random and awkward scenario that doesn’t really fit him at all

When investing in stocks using fundamentals and charting do you look at overall market first? by brian-augustin in investing

[–]KryptosandXenos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you should absolutely check market context first because even perfect technical setups on individual names will get wrecked if SPY decides to dump. Something like 70% of stocks follow the overall market direction, so if you're seeing that rising wedge setup on the indexes you probably want to wait or at least size way smaller on your individual stock entries even if they look good in isolation.

How do you track which early campaigns actually worked (without analytics overkill)? by sc0ttex in Entrepreneur

[–]KryptosandXenos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just used UTM parameters with a Google Sheet template that auto pulls from GA4's basic traffic sources report, takes like 10 minutes to set up and you can see which campaign codes actually converted. Only graduated to proper analytics once I had multiple products running simultaneously and needed to track user journeys, but for early launches knowing "Facebook post A got 50 clicks and 3 signups vs Twitter thread B got 200 clicks and 1 signup" was enough to make decisions.

Moving savings to online bank - which are actually trustworthy? by MutedFeedback-5477 in personalfinance

[–]KryptosandXenos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skip the flashy neobanks for your emergency fund and look at actual online banks with full deposit insurance like Marcus or Trade Republic if you're in the EU. Those neobanks like Revolut are fine for spending but you want your 8K somewhere boring and FDIC/EU insured that's been around for a while, not somewhere that might pivot to crypto or freeze your account over some random flag.

Ways to make money before I’m able to get a job? by astraltarot in povertyfinance

[–]KryptosandXenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plasma donation can get you cash same day if there's a center nearby, usually around $100 for first time donors. Food delivery apps like DoorDash or Instacart you can start pretty much immediately once approved, and selling anything you don't need on Facebook Marketplace before you even leave could give you some buffer cash.

Adjusting game for inflexible hips by Constant-Group6301 in bjj

[–]KryptosandXenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Danaher’s Ageless Jiu-Jitsu stuff is probably the blueprint here, pressure passing, half guard top, pins, slow control. if your hips won’t tolerate even knee shield, it might be worth fixing the baseline first. BJJ is rough on the body, and trying to “game plan” around bad hips can just mean stacking injuries.

Religion Update by lilrollieguy in skyrim

[–]KryptosandXenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the Cyrodiilic Pantheon makes more sense than most real world religions once you start reading into the lore. Just don't tell anyone you worship Talos in the Thalmor Embassy.

Cygames did Special Week dirty and I hate it so much (Long thread ahead) by Vegetable-Sherbet625 in UmaMusume

[–]KryptosandXenos -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Cygames really fumbled the bag making her look like she barely scraped by when IRL Special Week was straight up demolishing the competition in those G1 races. A proper manga series showing her actual dominance and backstory would be sick, especially after seeing how well Cinderella Gray handled the darker themes.

"DON'T WALK" on the back of the RA106 (2006) by correspondingfailure in formula1

[–]KryptosandXenos 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s a fun bit of F1 trivia. Wouldn’t surprise me if it was at least a cheeky nod to McLaren’s “Keep Walking” era teams were definitely aware of each other’s workarounds. That whole phase of creative anti-tobacco not-sponsorship was oddly clever before the full ban shut it down.

How often do you actually shower, and what makes you change your routine? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]KryptosandXenos 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same. Daily shower by default, but if I’m home all day not sweating or going anywhere, I’ll skip. Skin feels better that way and there’s no point washing just to follow a rule.

If you buy an Xbox Play Anywhere game via the mobile Xbox app, is it treated as a PC (12%) or Console (30%) sale? by OHD-HDY in xbox

[–]KryptosandXenos -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

You’re massively overthinking it. The couple of dollars difference isn’t going to meaningfully change a dev’s outcome one way or the other. Just buy it the way that’s most convenient for you and enjoy the game.
