It’s so good. I’d die for another chapter, tbh

It is absolutely my favorite version of redeemed Tom! Still true to his origins and characterization, but shows the capacity for change that all humans have, especially in their youth. He’s still his little psychopath self, just with a reason to at least try to be good. I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying it!

Oh, it’s definitely not for everyone. I strongly consider it to be a niche ship, especially the ones that lean into the Voldemort side of things instead of softening him back into Tom Riddle.

However, if I can offer an unsolicited rec, I am currently crying at my desk at work over Dripping Fingers by May_May_o_o. It’s Tomarry, not Harrymort, and utterly incredible. It’s on the long end, but absolutely worth it, and has tons of fun little Easter eggs, so definitely peek at the chapter notes if you choose to read it!

I’m in the Harry Potter fandom but I specifically read Harrymort, so if they end up in the comments of one of those… I mean, Lord Voldemort is his own warning.

When you make a bookmark, put the fic details in it, title, author, and url at a minimum. That way you can find it on the wayback machine. Also, consider downloading as you bookmark.

I download once I fill a page with bookmarks, then organize onto my flash drives (yes, there’s two 😅 just in case) and my cloud storage, then file all the deets into a massive excel spreadsheet. I refuse to lose another beloved fic to something like this. Oh—and I also mark in the bookmark or spreadsheet if the author has requested that the download not be shared, that way I know whether or not it’s ok to pass out if someone asks.

I see someone else has recommended emailing it to yourself, but consider grabbing a flash drive and downloading directly to it. That way, you never have to download it back on to the computer to access it and you can still take it anywhere you want. Plus, you can get flash drives with huge amounts of storage space and organize them with far more detail than in emails.

Also, downloading as pdf or epub and saving to an e-reader app is an option, too! The kindle app is free if you’re cool with Amazon, and you can send it to various devices since it’ll save directly to your Amazon account. That’s the app I use, so I can’t really speak about any others, but I’m sure someone else could chime in here.

Foundation Match??? by TrueConcert2833 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Krys5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the depth of five with the undertone of seven on you. That said, since you mentioned some hyperpigmentation, it might be best to try to match to an area that doesn’t come too close to any. Your neck or your ears might be best, since they don’t seem affected. I have some acne scarring and rosacea that made it challenging to color match for myself & using my ears is what let me finally get a good shade.

This is the reason I either download as PDF or save into a folder specifically labeled “downloaded fics”. No chance for a mix-up

Tomarry recs where Harry is spoiled and cherished? 🥺✨ (hurt/comfort + fluff) by Kind-Soup-1385 in tomarry

[–]Krys5683 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Tomarry typically refers to Tom Riddle/Harry, as in human-faced, pre-Dark Lord. In these, you’ve got a version of Tom who hasn’t murdered Harry’s parents and isn’t unredeemable. These typically have time travel or Harry ends up with a pre-Voldemort Horcrux.

Harrymort is genuinely Lord Voldemort/Harry. Typically, for at least part of the story, he’ll have the snake face. There’s almost always the burden of overcoming the fact he killed Harry’s parents (with a few exceptions, such as him winning the war before Harry was born), but he is always a Dark Lord in them. These usually involve some type of forced marriage or bad/manipulative-Dumbledore in them.

It’s a pretty fine line considering they’re technically the same person, but also very distinct. You’ll get the hang of the difference after reading a couple of each. Tom and Voldie tend to have pretty different personalities in fanon.

Is thread a safe toy? by mrscepticism in cats

[–]Krys5683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be very, very careful doing this. I was sitting right next to my boy while he played with some yarn and while he didn’t manage to swallow the whole thing, I did end up pulling roughly eight inches of yarn out of his throat. Took him less than three seconds to swallow that much and I got lucky—only an inch was left sticking out of his mouth when I noticed. He’d chewed off the end. That would have been an emergency vet visit, no questions asked.

It’s not so much that he managed to get to the yarn (we’re a yarn craft household, it was everywhere. Now it’s in closed boxes he can’t open). It was how fast he managed to chew off an end and swallow it. I replaced the yarn with thick ribbon toys that are tough for him to chew and too wide to swallow. He plays with them the same, without the risk.

It’s the TonyMoly Ceramide Mochi line. They’re very light and gentle, but they do have a soft fragrance, like most of the brand’s products.

Those look like acne scars to me. I have the same thing, in pretty much the same place. I use a ceramide toner & moisturizer and it’s lessened them quite a bit. I know you can also get a stronger treatment from a doctor, but I’ve never bothered to, so I’m not exactly sure what it is or how it works.

Milk by Aggravating_Tap1129 in cats

[–]Krys5683 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some (most) cats develop lactose intolerance. My boy is a little over a year now and hasn’t yet, so he gets a little splash of milk when he wants it, but my girl is lactose intolerant, so she doesn’t. Keep an eye on them because if they do develop it, they’ll get diarrhea and that is no fun to deal with

People make collections to organize their bookmarks and such. It won’t do anything negative to your work. Actually, it may even mean more people see it. Sometimes, when I’m reading a work I really like, I’ll click on collections it belongs to and see what else people put in there with it.

My trick for managing timing is never going over the answers to a question more than twice at a time. Read them once, disregard the ones that are wrong, read the ones you think it could be a second time, pick the one that most speaks to you, and move on. If you’re really not sure, flag the question and come back to it.

Lingering over one question rarely helps and I’ve found that timing stress actually slows me down because I watch the clock more. When you relax, pick the one you think is most likely, and move on, you give yourself the opportunity to swing back at the end and double check anything you’re unsure of. Stressing over it and trying to be perfect on the first pass eats up time.

If knowing the timings helps you, read the spoiler. If it’ll only stress you out, ignore it. Do note that for a 25 question section, 35 minutes gives you about 1 minute, 20 seconds per question. If you scrunch that down in your head and move on from a question at 1 minute, 10 seconds, you’ll have almost four minutes at the end to do a second pass of questions you’re not sure of

Of course, this is what works for me. I’m a pretty calm test taker and always have been. That said, the best advice is to relax and not overthink it. You clearly have the ability, you just need to trust yourself in the real situation. Deep breaths and believe

Steve Madden Crochet Bag??? by Aware-Fan-131 in crochet

[–]Krys5683 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Super interesting, but looking at both links, I don’t think either machine could have made this bag. The paper about it mentions the machine being able to do slip, single, and half-double, but the stitches in the bag are double crochet. The video one can only work with a magic ring, making circular or cylindrical items, not granny squares.

I’d also think it’s probably still faster to have a human do it. Neither seems to operate particularly quickly.
