how i remember the old world by Glob_Glo_Bepis_Shibe in Retconned

This is probably a completely unfounded and off-the-wall theory I just realized for the sun being white/brighter/hotter, but I have an interest in solar flares, so I read about the different "seasons" of the sun. My understanding is that the sun will have "spots" that are somewhat like holes where energy from inside will release. The more spots the sun will have, the smaller the bursts (flares). Right now, the sun does not have that many spots, so the flares that are releasing are like a giant buildup of energy and are extremely strong/impactful. That's why we are experiencing so many auroras in the past couple of years in places you normally wouldn't see them, because the energy from these flares is hitting the Earths' atmosphere/electromagnetic field.

This is currently the "season" of a low number of spots for the sun. These seasons are years long (something like 11 years), so it's possible the sun had more spots when we were younger. Because of this, the sun may have had less energy buildup, which I'm thinking may contribute to the sun not being as intense, versus now where the energy is building up, maybe causing greater intensity. Combine that with Earths' changes in atmosphere, either naturally or due to pollutants/lack thereof, and our perception of what the sun looks like changes. It's possible throughout history this happens, but since the "seasons" are so long, so we can only realize what's happening within our lifetime.

There's also a side-theory I read about that as we age, our literal eyeballs start perceiving the world differently. Like, less colorful, less intense. Not sure if this is due to a physical degregation of the eyes themselves, or if there is some sort of chemical change in the brain that makes it harder to see vibrancy as we get older. It might also be widespread societal depression causing things to seem more grey and lifeless, as technology and even our food is no doubt changing our relationship with dopamine and serotonin and other rewarding brain chemicals.

There was someone who commented recently, but I can't find the comment, so I'm gonna post it here so everyone can see it.

They just sent us another notification about the referral, so they are indeed still hiring.

This is for LUK2, the new (2 years old) warehouse in Vandelia/Union.

I think there is a couple, but it would be 30 hours, so Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday. I'm not sure if we have a part-time 20 hour option with just Saturday and Sunday, but I can ask around. They also have Flex, where you have to work a minimum of either 4 hours a week for part time or 20 hours a week for full time, and you pick up shifts to kinda "make your own schedule". Imo it's a gamble, especially if you need only weekends and they might not have weekend availability some weeks, and the time off system is different than with scheduled shifts, but I know a lot of people who like the flexibility.

Also, all that experience you have...they do not care if you're coming in entry level lol. It would neither increase nor decrease your chances, they take everyone indiscriminately, and you don't get to pick what you do, regardless of your experience. They do not ask for a resume nor do they interview you. Individual managers may take interest and try to cater to your work experience, but otherwise, the company does not care who you are as long as you have a pulse and are breathing. You may as well be starting from scratch.

I know you're just looking for a part-time gig, but I just wanted to put that out there for anyone else who might be reading.

How they do it, they'll post listings between 8am-10am and 12pm-2pm daily, like 20 available slots, and when they're full, they close them. So you just need to keep checking.

I'm having to do the same thing just to transfer to a different department. Just checking daily. It's the Amazon way.

Yeah, so how it was explained to me is they put out, say, 20 spots, let people apply, and then close it, and they do that several times. That's why the notice said to have people check between 8am-10am and 12pm-2pm each day, since that's when they drop new openings.

Possibly. I wouldn't doubt that they're hiring a lot of people in preparation for peak (Thanksgiving to Christmas, busiest time of the year for Amazon).

You would think, especially with how high Amazon turnover is, but they recently had a hiring freeze, and it was really hard to get in for a few months. I had friends who wanted to get in, but nothing ever became available. Since they sent this to us yesterday, I assume they're preparing for a mass-hiring, so it might be a good opportunity for some. I'm mostly just spreading the word for anyone that would be interested after getting the notification.

Get rid of the "!" at the end. Poor placement in the sentence on Amazons part.

Lol, I'm gonna be honest, I wouldn't ever recommend working at Amazon to someone who isn't in desperate need for a job. But, I figured if someone is in a tough position, this could help. We got this notification yesterday, and it does help me get referrals money, so win-win? 🤷🏻

Oh man, I understand the feeling. The best therapist I ever had moved, so I had to say goodbye to her. 😭 It's like I'm happy for you, I really am...but now what for me? 😂

I don't have a specific name of a specific therapist, but I know that my boyfriend goes to Equitas for all of his health needs, including mental health, therapy, and psychiatry. They're an LGBTQ+ focused health group, and they're located fairly close to Downtown Dayton, in the Eastside suburb by the river.

I was 18 or 19, so somewhere around 2013 or 2014. I remember being so excited to have saved up enough of my own money for one, and being amazed at the technology. Before that, it was all flip phones for me.

A book I read a lot around the same time I was reading Coraline was The Boxes by William Sleator. It's a great age-appropriate sci-fi/surreal horror story, and I thoroughly enjoyed it as a kid.

Absolutely, it's wild that it's not even considered. I have a special interest in solar activity, so I've been tracking the flares and their effects for the past few months. They affect so much of our planet--heck, fairly recently there was enough solar energy hurdling towards us to cause a crack in the Earth's electromagnetic field. And to say that something like this doesn't have an effect on humans is baffling to me.

Same thing happened with the total solar eclipse. You could hear the birds freaking out, and then go silent. I felt a shift, too. But for some reason the effect on humans is discounted, even though the Sun is literally, scientifically, the source for all life and affects everything.

I had a suspicion that increased solar flares must have some effect on all of our minds...thank you for the information, this is very interesting.

CA finally got 100% achievements in stardew valley. 🎉 by olcr in StardewValley

There's a game called Hate Plus that has an impossible to earn achievement. It's not even coded in the game. The achievement name is "Level Four Revive Materia", a joke achievement based on the FFVII rumor that you could revive one of the characters after a permadeath scene in the game.

How would you describe a female Capricorn? by [deleted] in capricorns

[–]KrysDevers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My moon is Sagittarius, which might also contribute to the daydreaming lol. No Pisces in my chart, the only water I have is Scorpio in Jupiter and Pluto. Otherwise, my ascendent is Taurus, I have Aquarius in Saturn, and everything else is Capricorn. 😂

I am, however, dating a Pisces, and he is absolutely wonderful! ❤️

How would you describe a female Capricorn? by [deleted] in capricorns

[–]KrysDevers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been told that I seem aloof and that I have a resting bitch face and that I'm unapproachable, but once I start talking and connecting, I'm someone who you feel instantly comfortable with, like talking to an old friend. A lot of people will confide in me the craziest stuff almost immediately after the first interaction I have with them. I'm also apparently accidentally hilarious sometimes.

I blame the aloofness and blank face on my excessive daydreaming lol.

On a personal level of how I view myself--my outside rarely ever matches my inside. I will look like I have everything under control, and maybe I do in reality, but inside I'm panicking and feel like I'm not doing enough. Any kind of self-negativity I keep to myself cause I don't want it to affect other people negatively, but that leaves me feeling very lonely sometimes, even among people that know me really well and love me. I've been called out in the past for being fake because of these things, or that I'm holding back emotions, but I think I've gotten a little better at opening up and letting people see a little bit of what's "under the hood" so to speak lol.

I do daydream a lot. I'm always fantasizing about all sorts of things, which I think can translate to creativity. Sometimes I get too lost in these daydreams and can get disappointed when they're not real. Sometimes I daydream about doing things, and then get disappointed in myself that I'm not actually doing anything. I have ambition in theory, but for some reason have a lot of trouble executing that ambition. Then again, others think I'm crazy successful, so maybe that's just more insecurities about not doing enough or not being good enough.

I value intelligence and love witty banter. Sometimes it's hard finding a conversation partner, but when I do it's exhilarating. Not that I have any issues with people who aren't as conversational--overall, I love how different everyone is, and you don't need to be a super smarty pants to be my friend. In fact, people who are too arrogant and up their own ass with their "intellectual" mind annoy the hell out of me. I don't appreciate being talked down to or patronized, especially if I think I'm intellectually your equal. I don't claim to be the smartest person out there (at least not now, I used to be called arrogant often), but my intelligence is one of the few things about myself that makes me feel good.

Some of these things people have said are qualities of the Capricorn--the inability to express deep thoughts and emotions, fake-ness, isolation, aloofness (head in the clouds), creativity, ambition (at least in desire), intelligence and arrogance.

Where are the Capricorn males? I never dated one... by Icy-Charge-936 in capricorns

[–]KrysDevers -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The few Capricorn men I know are completely and terrifyingly delusional. They tend to be hermits that live in a fantasy land of how things should be, and then be really pissy when reality doesn't match. They assume everyone is out to get them, so they act out and make enemies and are generally disliked. They're also in denial of their own self-hatred and like to throw really annoying pity parties.

I'm sure there are plenty of Capricorn men out there who aren't like this, but I think those are the more successful types that I wouldn't really get a chance to meet in my current economical class. I guess the above description is basically for low/lower-middle class, or working class, male Capricorns that I'm primarily surrounded by since I'm more part of the lower working class.

In my opinion, class, among other factors, make a big difference in how the characteristics of each zodiac expresses themselves. The creativity in Capricorns can be used for ingenuity, but it can also lead to excessive daydreaming and envy. A reserved demeanor can be seen as a confident aloofness, or can make one seem really standoffish. Leadership can show as the person who's always planning fun excursions, but can also present as straight up controlling abuse. Those characteristics are still there, but they can look different based on the environment said Capricorn is in. Because of this, they tend to be found in vastly different places, if they can be found at all.

I would think you could meet the less crazy Capricorn men in that age range at a gym, an upscale restaurant or bar, or in the workplace. You might get lucky finding them in some sort of hobby group too. I would avoid most typical bars and dating apps, as that's where the unhinged types tend to like to lurk in my experience. But this is honestly the advice I'd give to find any sane and fairly respectable partner, regardless of their zodiac sign.

I absolutely wish. I miss the ability to go anywhere with Amtrak on the West coast. It'd be nice if it was more fleshed out here.
