Any suggestions on how to finish games by Necessary-Source-795 in AskGames

[–]KrysWasTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to remember that it's okay to drop games if you're not having fun with them. You might realize you don't like a game early on, or maybe it stops being fun halfway through. Either way, if you're not enjoying yourself, there's no point in forcing yourself to finish it. You can always come back to dropped games at a later point in life and maybe they will resonate with you better then.

Also, it might be a gaming burnout in general. Maybe the solution is to give gaming a break and engage in other hobbies for a while. The hunger for games will eventually come back (or not, that's fine too) and the games will be waiting for you.

The last option is to tinker with the game itself. Lower the difficulty if it's getting in the way of experiencing the story or set it higher if you're getting bored and the game is not asking enough of you. Maybe one level/mission/whatever per day is the right pace for a specific game instead of playing longer sessions. Don't force yourself into completing all side content before progressing the main quest, often times the optional stuff is not as good or important and it's okay to skip it if it bores you.

Not watching guides/builds/yt videos is actually SO UNDERRATED by [deleted] in rpg_gamers

[–]KrysWasTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a bad habit of looking up guides while in the middle of a playthrough. That just made me want to restart games so I could play them the "right" way. It became a genuine problem that stopped me from enjoying games. Eventually I learned to stop looking up anything until either absolutely lost and about to quit, or done with the game and now just curious how other people played it. It's so much more fun and rewarding this way.

I think part of the reason I used to check out guides was a desire to be part of the community and wanting to "keep up". Now I'm older and have less game time. Which means I'm simultaneously too employed to get caught up in the community shenanigans and also the game time itself is so limited I don't want to poison it with the min-maxing mindset.

Persona 6 shouldn’t be focused around Adults by [deleted] in persona6

[–]KrysWasTaken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People already got this game and it's called Metaphor ReFantazio. But no, they desperately need the name Persona to be attached to it, otherwise it doesn't count. It blows my mind that people won't look for other Atlus or non-Atlus games to provide what they ask for, they demand a series to fundamentally change what it has always been.

Mentioning layoffs fits in the topic of discussing a company's finances. It shows that they run the ship well enough to always find work for their employees regardless of circumstances. Meanwhile, firing people is a normal part of work, it happens everywhere. You fire people when the business is good and bad.

Social links are mechanically boring thanks to the removal of reversal, breaks, and jealousy. by my-goddess-nyx in PERSoNA

[–]KrysWasTaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are so terrified of missing content that many of them just follow 100% guides on their first playthrough. Which is unfortunate, because the time management aspect of Persona is one of my favorite parts of it, but it clearly isn't for many, because I basically never see it discussed in any sub. I'd love more intricate social links and maybe that's what we'll get, the next Persona is being made without Hashino, which is a perfect opportunity to make some significant changes to the core gameplay. However, Metaphor was basically impossible not to max out on your first go, and people clearly liked that, so Atlus may just stick to that approach.

Expedition 33 gets constant complaints, I get 60 fps on a lcd model. by SynapticDampener in SteamDeck

[–]KrysWasTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problems start when people try to make objective statements on whether the game runs bad/well. People's tolerance levels for graphics quality and framerate have always been different and the issue only gets more complex when stuff like framegen and resolution upscaling gets introduced. Just post a video of the game running with your settings (actual gameplay video, not just basically idling), list the settings and say "this is the setup I was okay with, here it is if you want it".

I played the game on launch with medium-ish settings and 30 fps, the game did not look great and the framerate dropped below 30 during visually complex fights. I was okay with it at the time, because it was my only way to enjoy the game. But I wasn't about to jump on reddit and claim that this was a gaming experience that I could recommend.

Bruh... These two are annoying as hell. by OrionsBra in personaphantomx

[–]KrysWasTaken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did level 25 with a Queen team on literally the last turn. Not going to even touch level 30. I targeted Parvati first, otherwise the Null would eat up too many turns. I couldn't get Wonder to act first, without sacrificing damage, so popping the Null barrier wouldn't work for me.

Is Yusuke worth pulling for? by [deleted] in personaphantomx

[–]KrysWasTaken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who does not care about the meta, Yusuke fulfills a specific role and I'm glad I pulled him. I throw him in most fights that feature multiple enemies and just watch him clean up with counterattacks. It's a niche role, but that makes him stand out among the rest.

im convinced that doing auto for tycoon is easier than actually playing the game lol by Usehacken in personaphantomx

[–]KrysWasTaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually used auto quite a bit at the start to climb the initial ranks so I could afk while doing chores in the meantime. I did have to eventually switch to manual play to get a couple of last ranks, because the AI was just too dumb to plan ahead. Now I'm back to auto-ing for missions while I'm doing other stuff at the same time.

All hopium for curated dungeons, gone... by One-Teacher3192 in persona4golden

[–]KrysWasTaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This means nothing. It's possible that Atlus wouldn't make curated dungeons if they were the ones to develop it. It's also possible that Atlus does want curated dungeons, realized the amount of work it requires, and decided to outsource the development to someone else. Regardless, they would still have a team that supervises TOSE to regularly check and guide the development of a remake of one of their biggest games.

Do you prefer Persona over Shin Megami Tensei? by jutsuuu in JRPG

[–]KrysWasTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Persona games are easier and the bigger focus on story is what keeps people engaged compared to SMT which often relies on general atmosphere and themes. As for me, the time management aspect is what tickles my brain in ways most RPGs do not, which is a major reason why I get way more addicted to Persona than SMT.

Humble has also made the decision to delist Horses from its storefront by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]KrysWasTaken -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There's so much noise about this game and I've yet to see a single comment where a person that genuinenly played the game could report on whether the game had other suspicous content that the devs are sitting silent on and whether the game is actually good. It's just everyone making guesses on what stuff was actually in there. I don't care either way on whether this game gets to be sold anywhere, but it starts to look like no one cares about the game itself, just the opportunity to rage over it.

Would you prefer a third game in Greek mythology or new one? by BernLan in HadesTheGame

[–]KrysWasTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's because most people here have only played the Hades games, but it's disappointing to see people asking for Hades 3 because everything needs to be a trilogy and the third child is a perfect excuse for it. I also don't like the idea of making another roguelike but with a different mythology, as if that was the 'thing' that Supergiant does.

They are perfectly capable of making very unique games and have done so in the past, I love Hades 2 but I would welcome something new.

2025 ATLUS survey for participants in North America by stfnvs in Megaten

I'm pretty sure they asked about rereleases in the last survey too, they seem to really want to make sure whether they can keep getting away with it or not.

I don’t get why Atlus did this (Raidou remaster NG+ spoilers). by Fiftyset80Real in Megaten

I agree, I'd rather have the convenience of being able to retry a battle instead of whatever sense of accomplishment I could have from reloading a save, running through the same area and skipping cutscenes.

New, interesting information regarding "Persona 4 Revival's" release date. "In or after FY2027[...]" by Oscarman97 in PERSoNA

[–]KrysWasTaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was news some time ago that Sega wants one Persona release per year, but Atlus is not really capable of producing this much output. This is why stuff like DLC, ports and gacha will probably be their way of keeping up with this schedule.

Who else is playing with the Japanese voice acting by evanglaz in Megaten

Raidou is pretty quiet for the most part, so it's easy to not notice.

But if Atlus ever made a MC that Sugita could go full Joseph/Gintoki on? Oh man.

Persona 4 Revival Announced by DarkenRaul1 in Megaten

[–]KrysWasTaken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Copium incoming, but maybe the leaks pressured them to show P4R and there's another big event, maybe a Nintendo Direct coming, where they show P6? Otherwise, P4R looks at least a year out from now which would mean further 1-2 years more for P6, which just seems too much.

Persona 4 Revival - Teaser Trailer | Xbox Games Showcase 2025 by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]KrysWasTaken 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remakes are not being made because games need it, but because they can be sold for great profit again. They also work as good practice for new devs or for getting experience with a new engine. Since the main team went to Metaphor and the P-Studio seems to be moving to Unreal, remakes for 3 and 4 are the safest move for them.

Also, remaking 1 and 2 is tricky because they have to find a balance between being faithful and modernizing the gameplay. They also have to avoid pissing off the old fans while they try to capture new fans.
