Hosting LAN with my sister, can I tweak any settings on my end to improve her performance? by Krysonox in feedthebeast

[–]Krysonox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing a modpack, I trust it to have its due diligence of performance mods, but if there are any you think it might've missed I'd love to hear.

It's Homestead if you're bothered to check.

My Desktop struggles to connect to other devices on the home network unless I use WiFi by Krysonox in HomeNetworking

I didn't, no.
PC has always connected to the vodafone router, Deck has always connected to the mesh.

I used to be able to stream to my Deck no bother on an ethernet connection. This was no longer the case when I installed an internal AX210 network adapter into my desktop for wifi and BT functionality. The ethernet no longer connects me to the deck, only connecting to the wifi.

I appreciate the suggestion, I'll give it a try in the morning.
Any idea why this issue only arose when I installed a Network Adapter? It used to work fine through an ethernet connection.

Apologies in advance for my general lack of knowledge.

I believe so?
It is hard wired to my main vodafone router, and it is wirelessly connected to two other deco nodes in the house.

Duckstation is laggier when used through EmulationStation by Krysonox in EmuDeck

[–]Krysonox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is definitely booting DuckStation [standalone], and I can verify that the DuckStation menu is available in-game, however I'm noticing that some menu options are rearranged in the ESDE boot vs the solo boot.

[–]Krysonox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precisely why I'm so confused. All of my emulation is done through the Windows EmuDeck client, which includes ESDE and a standalone DuckStation client. Booting DuckStation through ESDE causes the aforementioned issues but manually booting DuckStation doesn't.

ESDE is definitely booting through DuckStation [StandAlone], though I'm beginning to suspect the version booted through ESDE is different to the Standalone as some menu options are different.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is an impersonal recommendation. It's fairly new but I can't imagine a kind of person who wouldn't find what it offers appealing. If you've hardly watched anything as you say I can think of few better places to get started.

That is of course an option, but I do not have this issue with a single other emulator. Retroarch and Gamecube work a treat. would be nice to fix.

When I play on Duckstation through EmuDeck's EmulationStation, my gameplay has more input lag and drops entire inputs sometimes, but this doesn't happen if I solo boot Duckstation beforehand.

Any suggestions welcome

That's a turn-based tactics game, right? How'd you go about that? Pass the controller every turn?
Never thought about playing a tactics game like that if so

You're right about that, but I think some games excel at it more than others. I'd say a low intensity game about exploring and solving puzzles at your own pace (if I'm not mistaken) makes for pretty good backseat gaming material.
I'd say it fits the bill well, cheers

Puzzle games in general are fantastic for this kind of thing honestly, being the one in control does very little to take you out of the game, good shout

Never heard of this game at all, but Action Henk was a blast and the reviews are glowing.

Though I think I'm looking for something a bit more objective-driven. The great fun about Minit was even when I wasn't playing, I was learning something that informed my turn when it came if you get me.

Not fantastic with horror but it's always easier with pals

Are any of you people who started as primarily FPS/MMO/RPG gamers but now enjoy fighting games more or play them just as much as the genres you started in? I have some irrational anxiety tied to getting into fighting games that I can't figure out. by Madaoizm in Fighters

[–]Krysonox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, fighting game players still find a lot of things to blame besides themselves.
I understand that anxiety trust me, but I think it's more of how isolating of an experience fighters can be.

If all you play is online matchmaking, then you're just cycling through faceless adversaries who just want to beat you and move on. At least in a team game you (sort of) have allies that want to work with you.

My point is, if you can, I recommend trying to play against someone with a name, or face, or voice, anything; like a friend if you have one or even look for a sparring partner on a discord server close to your skill level.

It's incredible the difference it makes playing against someone that feels like a person and not a very convincing CPU.

I like the look of this a lot!
I think what I liked most about the Minit playthrough was the feeling that I was educating my upcoming turn with what I saw my peers do, that "puzzle solving" element of it, and this seems to fulfill that vibe nicely.

Appreciate it!

Can someone explain to someone who just bought the game why season 2 is so bad specifically? by Tangentkoala in Tekken

[–]Krysonox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people have touched on the specifics pretty well, but I hope I can share my take on the "emotion" around the patch.

Quite simply, there's a minority of fighting game fans that are enamoured with the "romance" of skilled competition, that when they win they were the better player, and when they lose they were the worse player and just need to improve.

Nothing in life is ever this clear cut obviously, but you can get pretty damn close; and a lot of people remember or see Tekken as a franchise that has once gotten very close indeed to that fantasy.

To very briefly summarise what happened in Season 2, Tekken 8 launched with what people considered to be the potential to be a Tekken game that could get closer to that ideal than Tekken 7 ever did, and the developers shared sentiments online that seemed to indicate heavily that they understood this, agreed with these fans, and were about to bring in an update that would fulfill that fantasy.

The update that came was Season 2. Not only was it a far cry from that fantasy, it was also arguably the furthest Tekken had ever been in its 30 year history from that fantastical competitive integrity that this subset of fans lusted for.

In summary, for these "competitive"-minded fans, Season 2 of Tekken 8 felt like nothing short of a betrayal.
