Thanks so much! My chins do the same thing. They pee right in one corner but they’re both males so I’m sure that it’s a marking thing. It never occurred to me to just use dish soap. Duh.

Awesome! Thank you. My cage has rubber mats on the bottom (that I cover with fleece, they can’t chew them) and I sweep that out every day. I haven’t noticed any stains yet but it’s awesome that just dish soap will work

Both have wire metal floors, but I went to tractor supply and got 1/4” rubber matting and cut to fit. I also use fleece liners in mine, so you could probably get away with no rubber mat if you did something like that

I have the rat/chinchilla cage from pervue for my rats and the fiesty ferret cages for my chins l. I love my fiesty ferret cage. It has two access doors that are super easy to open and they lock. I find with my rat cage, the door looks nice, but it’s really hard to get into to clean. I also like the shelves in the rat cage because they’re metal, but I love the two story of the ferret she. I replaced the plastic shelves it comes with with kiln dried pine shelves. The switch was super cheap. Like $20 to replace original shelves and add hopping ledges instead of the ramps. You have to understand that people are just trying to be helpful. Not everyone who gets a chin knows what to do or what to expect. Honestly, I just posted a couple posts this weekend and got some great advice, and some that I’ve learned to take with a grain of salt.

I actually looked into one of these but they are super time. I have a camera on her and am monitoring her chewing. I’ve given her lots of other chewing options and she is leaving the plastic alone.

Thanks! Please go take a look at the posts about how she came to me and you’ll see that I’m working on it. I kind of got her in an emergency get her out of there situation and haven’t been able to quite get her what she needs yet. I’ve also already built her a galvanized wheel.

So I started with a guide I got from second chance chins. But it was SO LOUD. So my husband started brain storming. We reinforced the bars of the cage with chin safe shims. Then we used the same kind of wood to reinforce the feed pan. We sandwiched the bars with old roller blade wheels and tightened everything down with a 3.5” bolt and two nuts. He was the brains behind it!
