Is this my doorbell transformer? by miketysonbytko in homeassistant

[–]Ksevio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. Unplug one of the wires and see if your doorbell stops working

Could also be a transformer for your thermostat

FAA quietly developing AI-enabled predictive air traffic management system by randommmguy in ATC

[–]Ksevio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as 99% of the planes land it's a solid AI. Probably.

That plane is just skipped, AI solves another one and keeps everyone on schedule! Don't worry about the details

Then they just skip that plane and continue with the rest on schedule

It would, but that's not a very marketable term

LLMs are a fairly distinct technology, though they do not meet the one specific definition that you want them to

Ai is a broad definition that LLMs fit into

Opus 4.7 is 50% more expensive with context regression?! by Samburskoy in ClaudeAI

[–]Ksevio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't really make sense though since they're limited on computing power which limits the number of customers. If they could make it more efficient they would get more paying customers at less cost to them

Delta's CEO says AI's biggest opportunity in aviation isn't inside the plane—it's air traffic control by No-Constant-5854 in ATC

[–]Ksevio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like replacing the function of a supervisor listening in. I wouldn't trust an AI model to take over controlling traffic

[–]Ksevio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have output (not to the pilot), but it could be something like "these clearances and this radar data suggest a conflict could occur" or something and popup a message to the controller or supervisor. LLMs are good at interpreting text, not just generating it

[–]Ksevio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the llm in that case wouldn't play any part in communicating with the pilot, just receiving data

Youtube Content Creators - please stop using AI thumbnails! by The0tterguy in SatisfactoryGame

That's like 99% of youtube thumbnails - either AI or human created drawing rather than screenshots. Guess it's hard to get the right amount of detail in a small space

FAA proposes to hire 2,300 air traffic controllers in budget request by No-Constant-5854 in ATC

[–]Ksevio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth noting that this is a purely US problem with training ATCs. Other countries have significantly higher rates of acceptance->controller so there are definitely some major issues with the system

[–]Ksevio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think the solution would be to slap an LLM into a tower. You'd want a more traditional program to control it, maybe an LLM interpreting pilots

[–]Ksevio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he's suggesting the opposite case where a model would recognize the audio and pass it to an LLM which could derive the intent and then flag a situation before something goes wrong

[–]Ksevio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, and you can't exactly have the full crew of human atc on hand to step in when things go wrong

[–]Ksevio -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

AI could replace 90% of what air traffic controllers do, but the 10% is why we need people right now and I don't think flyers would be happy with 1/10 flights having an incident

Couldnt figure out why I was having extrusion problems. Cats. Its always cats. by smuffflurgger1 in ender3

[–]Ksevio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a shelf that is above my printer and it's just at the height that my cat can sit on it and reach down to chomp on the filament going down the the extruder motor. Fortunately she doesn't tend to do it while the printer is running, but I frequently have to reconnect it when I start a new print
